Better than expected
Was better then I expected after comments off people i know. My playing partner said they have improved a lot on last year. For the price an absolute bargain
Ok up the 15th got lost no markings for the 15th when we got there it was a par 3 instead of a par 4 and was a temporary green 16 and 17th green not
Come off 14th no 15th markings par 3 instead of par 4 also temporary green on 15th greens not good on 16 17th also motor bikes on the course but good price for 13 pounds for 15 holes
15th hole
Used to be great hole. Shortened it for some reason. And the new green needs time to bed in
New course name but actually an old course
First 14 holes not bad, greens needed rolling and mowing,
But the 15 th which is index 1 was incomplete, and was being played as a par 3,
We were not told this and the course has surely had enough time to get it ready,
But not a bad course for the money.
Rude members
A golf course that is of average quality but a good opportunity to get out after such a long time off due to lockdown.
However, what could have been a pleasant day was overshadowed by a group of members behind us that were rude and aggressive. This group of members asked us to speed up, on the second tee! This was whilst waiting for a four ball to clear the fairway in front. They were 200 yards into the distance, perhaps the members are not familiar with the driver.
We waited on every tee. Not a problem for us as the group in front was keeping up with theirs. However, the members behind us were pressurising us to the point where we played a tee shot before the group in front had cleared 250 yards. Luckily my drive rolled up a few yards short of the group in front. We used this opportunity to politely remind the group behind that this is why you should not rush players on a busy day.
What followed was really quite appalling. One of the gentleman in the group behind approached my playing partner and confronted him. After listening to him and offering our point of view he threatened us. Naturally this ruined our day. In 10 years of golf I have not experienced anything of this nature. If you have the opportunity to play elsewhere I implore you to do so.
Great well maintained course
First time here and I loved it. Beautifully maintained, well designed, unexpectedly quiet, with a real sense of space. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
Only play 15 holes
Holes 15-17 are a bit pointless and undergoing maintenance at the minute but apart from that it’s a beautiful course.
Greens in need of overhaul. Patchy and so slow it was silly. Fairways with mowings still on and very poor signage, found myself wandering around to find the 15 th hole no signs at all , deeply frustrating. Some holes the hole Sian was missing so couldn’t tell which hole it was. Probably best to close this course and make it an open space allowing more money for the remaining council course.
Avoid
I played here due to my course being closed due to a competition & being the only course I could get a tee time for on a Sunday morning. I didn’t expect it to be of a high standard but all the same quite looking forward to it as there’s not many courses in Nottinghamshire that I haven’t played so good to tick one off the list & playing a course for the first time is always nice. The course itself is not too challenging so could make for an enjoyable round as scoring could be good & that’s about as positive as I could be...............This course is horrendous. I wasn’t expecting quality conditioning but wasn’t expecting the condition of greens, around greens & tees to be so shocking & I mean shocking!!!!!!!!! May as well pick your ball up after hitting approach shot. It’s not clear where the green starts or finishes just a flag in the ground where the fairway has been cut a bit shorter. The greens are the worst I’ve ever played in 22 years of playing golf, tbh you can’t even call them greens due to them being so poor. The tee’s were awful too but not a great concern as you can hit it off a tee peg. Also got lost after playing 14th hole as no signs to 15th tee so I played the 18th by mistake & had to walk back, so I got 19 holes instead of 18 but whilst that would be a good thing not here I couldn’t wait to finish & leave. On the 16th there was no flag so had no idea where to aim at & like previously mentioned you can’t see where the green starts/edges. When I got there still no flag but instead a bit of tree sticking out of a hole, wow. Just when you think the course couldn’t get more bizarre I had to move ball on 18th green due to a pile of chopped carrots & tomatoes on the green & that was a highlight because it made me laugh. I’ll never play this course again even if it was free. I’ve tried to upload pictures but it says a photo off a phone is too big of a file. The twig sticking out of the hole & the veg on the green would have amused you it did me because by that point after playing that awful golf course you’re at the point of either laughing or crying. I would have asked for money back but couldn’t be bothered.
Late Booking
Course in good condition considering the recent cover-19 situation, and suspect will improve with time, tee boxes would respond to some TLC greens on the whole where slow but reasonable. Pace of play was good and not rushed staff and members we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful.
Course and facilities well presented with friendly and approachable people, will return to play again in the future and would recommend to anyone.
Not good at all.
Played this course for the first time today. It shall be the last time. Absolutely terrible tees, Uneven and cut up. Fairways are like the rough of most courses and the greens are the absolute worst ive played. Its hard to tell when the rough/fairway ends and the green starts.
Waste of money.
Excellent value for money
Good course. Flat and the holes are on the whole forgiving.Fairways are in excellent condition however some greens are a little poor in places but still playable.very quiet during the week.
Poor
The fairway conditions were ok but the greens were horrendous! On some holes it was hard to see where the fairway ended and the green started. The back 9 was a lot worse than the front. Holes 13, 14, 15 and 17, the fairways have been made a lot narrower than I remember due to the introduction of steep banking. Overall we won't be rushing back!
Value for money
Fairways in good condition, greens need a lot of work. Nice range of holes. Club house closed so had to write scores on phone.
Hidden Gem
Having played this course two years ago, the difference is absolutely amazing.
It looks lovely.
Yes the greens at the moment aren't the best, but with more time will be .
Fairways are really good and in general great value for money.
Well done the team at Bulwell Hall.
Poor condition
The greens were like putting on the fairway, and the fairways were like the first cut! Not great! Very quiet though which was the only bonus....and the sun shined!
More than Fair
No one available when we arrived but it was later in the evening.. Had to find fairways as even the first cut was long and the greens weren’t in the best condition but for a small green fee around a public course it was perfectly fine for getting a golf fix in! If only we’d gotten some way of knowing how the find the 15th/16th&17th holes it would have been an even better experience! Certainly will be returning to try and better our scores, but this course allows you to either be aggressive or play simple golf!
Bulwell Hall
The course has so much potential with the setting and trees. However; the teas were a shambles and the greens were the worst greens I’ve ever played on.
Considering the £17 green fee the value for money is woeful. £10 is too much. I would not recommend you waste £17 unless extensive work is done to the tees and green especially
