Very good value, greens in very good condition
The low price belies the value from playing this, for a senior, challenging course.
Greens in very good condition
Take note, no toilets on course (except clubhouse)
Poor
The course was in a very poor condition. Played here many times. This was the worst I’ve ever seen it.
Good public course
Good greens and tee boxes, the fairways can be very patchy in places which does let it down.
Very good clubhouse and bar with some great food.
Narrow, hilly & difficult. Just brilliant!
What a gem! Every hole needs a lot of thinking. The greens were just fine given the dry summer. This course, if watered would be beautiful. The layout is wonderful with curves, blind shots and plentiful trees and bunkers.
BH Golf
I've played Panshanger a few time now and it is great value for money with some relaxing holes and then some really challenging ones. the course condition is good bearing in mind the dry summer and the ball rolls well!!
For the price the course is in good condition and if there is one immediate improvement it would be the removing the stones from the bunkers and adding some decent sand. then again you could always avoid them in the first pace!
Shame about the level of care
Received a friendly welcome in the pro shop. The condition of the fairways was understandable i.e the dry conditions this summer. However the condition or the greens was poor. They had varying lengths of grass on the same green, had multiple unrepaired pitch marks, some many days old, and in some cases other holes 5-10 cm wide. The bunkers were unkempt with many looking like they had hosted a kids party. Green fringes had tyre tracks in them and were rutted. No sign of any ground staff which probably explains the disappointingly poor course condition. Also no signage to guide from green to next tee and distance markers on some holes only. After 9 holes and 2.5 hours found ourselves near the car park and left.
Great shame as course had mature surroundings and good layout. Lack of love for a potentially good track.
Exceptional
Very friendly staff good ales and beverages. A very challenging course it just gets better and better I did very well on the front 9 not so good on the back 9 . I would urge you golfers to come and play this course it's got everything and some. I will definitely book this again before the summer is out.
Good course but got confused trying to find hole 10. Maybe a sign or something would be handy but over all was good
Where is the gras?
A great day with some old friends at a location in the middle of us and at a reasonable price. Thundery showers had been forecast for our round so we weren't sure whether we would even be able to finsh. With a few breaks under some trees for the storms to pass, we completed our round in 4 and a half hours, not bad for a 4 ball starting at sunday lunchtime. It's generally a busy course and being relativley cheap does encourage novice golfers to play here, which can slow you down if they are not adhering to etiquette but no such troubles today. The course itself has always been enjoyable to play, not overly challenging but some great holes, and on the day, the fairways were baked and the ball would often run off if not hit in the correct position. Course conditions were not great though, most tees have been scraped and their is some kind of mulchy surface that is okay for a tee and ball but doesn't provide the best grip even with spikes. It is hard to find a flat bit to hit a drive from also. The fairways were brown and pretty bare making ball striking really important even for a 15 handicapper! The greens had been well watered but were not consistent and follwoing the showers there was a lot of casual water on and around the greens. Every green was a different speed and pitch marks don't seem to be encouraged to be repaired, i could have repaired dozens on each green. Most bunkers are full of stones so clubs can be easily damaged playing from a trap, a few bunkers have been replaced with white sand a number of years ago but they haven't got round to rest yet. On the day, there was a function in the clubhouse and loud music was played all day which could be heard all over the course, wasn't an issue for us but could be for purists. Didn't go in the clubhouse but have before, offers the usual function rooms for weddings and such and a bar with a balcony with views over the course, a nice way to watch some other groups coming in and refresh yoursefl after your round. All this being said i will go back to the course i grew up playing for the layout and the memories.
Slow play
Play was super slow.people jumping in.
Very dry fairways. Good greens
Slow slow slow
I wouldn’t be playing this again, a 4 ball in a few groups in front of us slowed the day to the point that 4 people behind them from differing groups quit playing by the 11th, we caught said group who spent 20mins looking g for a ball, wouldn’t let play pass and picked up at least 4 of our balls, at that was them walking back a good 60/70 yards to pick it up. Then on the 18th sat on the green to stop our play. Never experienced such shocking behaviour
Awful management of course
Horrendous course management people from the public just walking on the course and playing dropping balls wherever they like and holding up play no one checking course of tee times etc would not recommend!!!
