Good tight course
Always enjoy playing Parkwood. Only really play in the summer, as the course can get water logged in the winter, on the front 9. Quite tight in places, so you need to be pretty straight off the tee. Greens were in good shape, and ran well (pretty quick). One of the highest points around, so the views of London, can be pretty impressive on a bright sunny day.
Disappointing but we had a good day out.
Ok, let's start with the positives.
The breakfast was unreal and reasonably priced.
The course was a great layout and overall we found the course interesting, it had everything, Short holes, long holes, tight tee shots, A HUGE par 3 at 248 yards.. and a few blind tee shots.
Now the Negatives...
We drove 50 miles to play here and after we bought breakfast, drinks and whatever else we parted with £130.00 + fuel and it was disappointing.
If you want to work on your 3 putts, this is the place to come. I never thought that in July i would ever find myself putting on greens running 4 on the stimp. I think the fairways were cut shorter than the greens.
The fairways, although cut nicely and there was definition between fairways, 1st cut and rough.
There were too many weeds on the fairways.
The par 3 14th - the shrubs around the lake were so high you couldn't see the flag from the back tee boxes).
Overall a decent day, but if i had to use one word to describe the golf course it would be "shabby". No attention to detail. This could be a cracking course.
Great value and excellent course
Great value course, especially for afternoon rounds when its cheaper and quieter.
Greens were very slow, didn't seem like they'd been rolled or cut but usually that's not the case. Lots of broken ball cleaners though and not a lot of sand in many of the bunkers. A little bit of care and attention would make it a 5 star without much more effort.
Lovely track
Couldn’t believe how quiet it was ! I will be visiting again
Good Value
Picked up a deal on Golf Now a two ball for £30. Had a 1502 tee time and was surprised that we went straight off with nobody in front of us.
A good test of golf with tree lined fairways and holes with water aplenty.
Greens held up well but a few holes that needed fellow golfers to repair their pitch marks !!!
Great value golf would definitely recommend
PW
I couldn’t play as hurt my back 😢 but hubby and son had a great time and really enjoyed the course, thank you
We will be back!
Park Wood
Nice Course, If you drive straight a good score is possible.
Greens a bit sandy but overall well worth a visit
Hidden gem
First time playing and will certainly be back. Played solo with a tee time of 1pm on a Sunday afternoon. Nobody before or after me for half hour each way so was able to tee off 20 minutes early. Caught up with the group in front by the 9th who immediately waved me through then joined up with another solo. Pace slowed a bit but nothing too slow.
Great variations of holes. Need to drive it straight as lots of tree lines but not so tight that you couldn't open the shoulders and hit it.
Bit noisy coming down the last as kids party happening in the clubhouse but actually found it added to the charm.
Good, but plenty of Room for Improvement...
Park Wood is a good long parkland course that is currently set up for all abilities, clearly has the potential to be toughened up considerably by growing out some of the rough areas. Fairways are decent, only a few boggy areas remain thankfully. The bunkers badly need refreshing/topping up, probably the weakest sector of the course, that and way too many pitch marks on every hole. Yes it's been a wet winter/spring, but I was repairing five or six on every green, and that was only a fraction of those I could see, but I didn't want't to slow down play too much. Would I visit again, yes for the golf, the customer service was just ok. Never a fan of standing waiting at the Bar/Reception when there's three staff behind and two are standing around chatting. Even an acknowledgment of my presence would have been nice....
Awesomeness
Course held up well in extreme terrible conditions.
Only downer was bunkers with large stones in and I’m guessing the course is going through some changes as most bunkers was grass
