Nice greens, crowded course
Nice challenging course with an interesting back 9
Well maintained fast greens.
Course let down by a huge amount of overlapping airways. Most I’ve ever heard “fore” shouted while playing golf.
Confusing which hole to play at many
Challenging
Plenty of challenges on this course. Front few holes aren't the best... but once you get to the back section its different standard.
Greens were fantastic and true. Bunkers were great.... Worth going in...
Save some energy for the 18th!
Great day on the course
I booked Reddish Vale after playing Cavendish another MacKenzie designed course. Reddish Vale is an interesting course set in undulating terrain with several blind summits and plently of raised greens. I played on a bank holiday and although it was fairly busy the pace of play was good. The greens are quite flat with suttle breaks and kept in good condition. Staff in the pro shop were very friendly and helpful. It could do with some signs in place to direct to the next hole as its not always obvious but apart from that this is an excellent course, well worth the visit.
Hidden gem
Great course, but way too tight
No markers or signs on the holes to guide you. Club Captain said they are on order, so should improve your round massively.
Could do with putting the layout on the back of the scorecard or the hole numbers on the flags.
Overall an amazing course with extremely good conditions. But some of the holes are just dangerous. The 6th & 18th pretty much have a joint fairway. We abandoned the 18th because it wasn’t safe to play.
Gem of a course
Really enjoyed 18 holes at Reddish Vale. The course is a bit tight, so be prepared for some fores, but notwithstanding that it is a great layout and one I will definitely look forward to returning.
If playing for the first time then buy a course guide, or take a photo of the course map outside the pro shop. You won’t get lost or end up on the wrong tee, but there are a few holes where it certainly helped.
Good Course
The course held up really well after days of heavy rain, we could barely tell it had been wet.
It is an excellent track with an interesting layout and I’m looking forward to playing again. One thing I’d say is I’m glad there was a winter green on the 18th so we didn’t have to play up the huge hill!
Interesting and challenging
Very friendly staff and course had held up very well given a lot of rain in the days prior.
Would 100% play again
Good course, bad pace of play
Nice course to play and can see it would be brilliant in the summer, £35 for a round is a bit steep in the winter and not being told certain holes are on winter mats and winter greens was shocking, a 2 ball in front slowed our round completely down and just ruined it.
Good course but poor pace of play.
Good course. Pace of play very poor.
Playing off winter tees on some holes and winter green on 18th. Never told this prior to booking.
Not worth paying £35 a round at this time of year.
Might be back in the summer as a very testing course.
Greens excellent, tees not in so good condition. Course a bit wet in places!
Tees & greens close together, our party nearly got hit on a few occasions.
You have to walk back almost the full length of the 16th fairway to get to the 17th tee, the 17th then plays across the 16th, didn't find this too appealing!
Little Gem
Wonderful place to play, surroundings are brilliant!
Riverside fairways and greens, which were immaculate throughout the course.
People I met during play were friendly and pleasant.
Will definitely play again!!
Extremely helpful people in the well stocked Pro Shop.
RVGC
Very pleasant course, reasonable price and very decent pace of play. Killer of an 18th though.
Reddish Vale Golf Club
Played Reddish Vale today, really enjoyed this course, friendly staff in the Pro shop. The course doesn’t get off to an easy start strong par4 with a good carry with your second most holes are in my memory, my sign of a good course. Course in good condition, greens very true just a little slow. I will definitely return to play this course only hole didn’t like was the 18th. Unable to comment on clubhouse due to Covid restrictions. If you are in this area give this course a try you won’t be disappointed.
A Mackenzie masterpiece
This course was one the first the great Dr. Alistair Mackenzie designed and I believe it was one of his finest. The way the course is made to make the most of the natural hazards and make great risk and reward, challenging golf holes is fantastic. I also believe that the owners are making sure much more of the river is visible and in the golfers mind by cutting back much of the foliage, which I think is a great was the preserve and improve the course. Finally the condition of the course was excellent and has one of the best holes in golf, the 16th, so is a absolute hidden gem and is a must play for anyone who amores great course architecture.
Immaculate Course
The golf course is absolutely flawless. It is just a shame that the hierarchy of the club simply think they rule the world. If you can stay out of the way from the discustingly behaved members then I’m sure you will enjoy your day. The club doesn’t welcome everybody done dare try and play in the week between 11am and 1pm.
Historic Experience
I'm used to American courses that have all been designed within the last 20 years. This was an excellent course over 100 years old sitting on a beautiful section of land with a river and surrounding park. Design was great. Staff and members were very nice and welcoming. I was able to enjoy the course and take some pictures instead of having to rush to keep the crowd moving. I researched almost every course in the area, and this course has a unique appeal that is hard to beat.
Bet kept golf secret in Manchester?
Played this Mackenzie course a few times now and it has never disappointed. However none of my playing partners had and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the course and the layout. The staff and members were all very welcoming and friendly. Can't recommend it highly enough!
The finest course in Manchester!
Manchester is not a great area for golf courses but Reddish Vale stands out as being of real quality. After five testing holes on undulating ground by the lovely old clubhouse, the routing plunges spectacularly down into the beautiful Tame valley. There follows golf of the highest order over fabulous terrain with the meandering river never far away. Every hole is memorable and completely individual; a real treat for serious golfers. Reddish Vale is a truly great course and such an unexpected find in the Stockport suburbs!
