Good Condition for this time of the year, fantastic value
For this time of the year the course was in great condition. All 18 holes open and all on their normal greens. Was soft in some areas but lot of rain recently so it was to be expected. Saw a greenskeeper out on a Sunday sucking up leaves! Good range of tests for par 3's, 4's and 5's. Not too long of a course and not short at the same time. Good size greens to aim at. Quite a flat course so easy on the legs, only hill is when walking over the motorway bridge. Friendly staff in the pro shop and told about the multiple practice facilities: long range area, short range area, hitting nets, putting green and indoor swing room! Stayed for a quick drink and a sandwich and watched a bit of the football.
A Pleasant parkland course
Firstly the clubhouse, pro shop and the staff were all very nice. The practice facilities at the club are extensive, with three practice grounds a putting green and practice nets. The Course has a very interesting layout, not just the standard up and down fairways side by side like some other courses like Didsbury. The course was in perfect condition with the greens fast but also soft to pitch the ball onto. The only negative is the noise from the motorway but that is the same with many courses in the area. Overall a excellent quality parkland course overlooking the Mersey.
Great day
Not played here for about 30 years. Some changes but all still recognizable. Sure it was easier then! Rough on side of fairway is very deceptive - looks innocuous but beware. Greens played well though clearly suffering from extra dry summer. Pace of play was really good. All staff very friendly. Want to go back (and maybe do better next time)
Nice course, freindly staff
Beautiful day, empty course in front of us....few greens in poor condition but the staff advised the fact before tee off due to recent heavy rains. Overall great course, long holes.....flat, but certainly worth a visit!
Disappointed
My friend and I were disappointed to be told on entering the Pro shop two holes were not playable due to the Utilities company carrying out work on the 10th tee.
On leaving the 9th green and crossing the motorway bridge there was no signage to indicate how to find the 12th tee. I would expect better from such a well established club.
We both feel Golfnow should place a notice on the website indicating all 18 holes are not playable.
Shame on you Golfnow
Didsbury twilight
The course was in excellent condition, greens playing pretty quick even having been spiked recently. Fairways short and excellent as always. Pace of play was tremendous: as I was playing alone, the two ball in front let me through as soon as they could and I flew round in 2 hours. Disappointing that I couldn't get a drink afterwards as accessing the bar was like trying to access Fort Knox! Barman seemed reluctant to leave his chair...Probably the best of the Mersea Valley courses.
Long trek between holes
Signage very poor long trek between holes could be more organised
Good as I remembered
Must be nearly 8 years since I played here last and nothing has changed. Accuracy is key to a good score. Not to demanding but some interesting holes and heavily tree lined. Couple of tee blocks were uneven and struggling to grow in the shade, greens were good though.
