Back for some more.
2nd time I’ve played this course. Very flat but a forgiving course to play. Would come back. Not the most scenic but beautifully laid out with mainly a tree lined layout. Greens and Tees in good condition. My only negative comment would be the fairways needed a bit of a trim to differentiate between the first cut of rough. There wasn’t much difference in places. But overall I love the vibe of this course.
No rain this time!!
It was the third time I had played here. That tells you that I like the course. It’s flat and has some variation on the layout. My mood is always helped when I avoid all the bunkers. The scenery is ok but not spectacular. Very peaceful though. I would certainly recommend playing here.
Great.
This course has a nice vibe to it. The green keepers are doing a great job to keep it in a lovely condition despite so much dry weather. Quite a forgiving course. Was a pleasure to play. Tee’d off early to avoid any crowds. But the price we paid was definitely worth it and would return.
Course of two halves
Played Scarthingwell on a hot bank holiday Monday, the course was quite busy so there was quite a bit of waiting around, have played the course before so I'm getting to know the layout, the course itself was in fairly good condition although some of the tees were quite damaged, I think it would be beneficial to either have a map on the card or on the holes themselves as on some of the holes it is difficult to know where you're playing to, Overall a nice course to play and would definitely play again.
Scarthingwell golf club
Fairways a bit long ,first cut really springy, greens just been spiked but still good, really enjoyable first visit.staff are friendly food good ,available up to 17 00hr we will be back.
Excellent value for money
I’ve played this course a dozen times this year as it’s affordable and on my doorstep. The course is always in great condition and offers a good test to the average golfer.
All staff and members I have encountered have been really friendly and helpful.
The only downside to the course is it tends to suffer from slow play.
Great layout
Great track , only negative was firm greens , pins not excessable
Great value for money and a good challenge for the average golfer
Course was in very good condition and speed of play was very good too. Club members were very friendly and courteous as were the staff. We completed an unhurried round in 3 hours 20 minutes and if we had wanted to we could have played faster. We were happy to sit behind a four ball for the first nine holes even though they offered us through on two occasions.. Greens were true and even though it rained early in the round it helped the greens to be more receptive. Would recommend the course
For the money, was ok
To find out on arrival that they operate a 7 mins between tee times. Pressure already.
Fairways on a whole good condition, well cut etc.
Most of the greens were in shocking condition. Divots and marks littered most of them, not easy putting. I would compare the greens to a council golf course.
Some of the locals were quite rude, we were a two ball and we had a two ball in front then a four in front. Four ball took a long time and were playing at a very slow pace, however didn’t let the quicker two balls play threw. Over four hours for a round, not impressed.
Will play somewhere else next time.
2nd visit this week
We enjoyed our earlier visit so much we came back later the same week!
The conditions were cooler with a light breeze but the course was still in good conditions with putting a pleasure.
We took the chance to visit the bar before heading home. The beer was on the pricey side but the food was very reasonably priced. The atmosphere was relaxed and airy with pleasant view out to the course and the gardens.
The best money spent recently!
Holiday time-Reach for your clubs
We have had a long spell of really hot weather!!
The grass was burned on fairways as expected - other courses are having the same problems.
The greens were better than some we have played recently - true rolls on green grass with few bare areas. The grass was slightly longer than normal which made putts slow but that was part of the challenge. One of my friends was new to the course and wants to come back soon. I thinks that is a good idea!! We didn't use the clubhouse but it looked very inviting - next time!
Good round
Considering the high temperatures of late the course was in reasonably good condition.
The greens were receptive although recently sanded.
Good round
The course was a little dry due to the recent hot weather but play on it was good and sound the greens were firm but true all in all a n enjoyable round of golf
Slow play
Nice course booked on tee off times but competition infront slow was ridiculous 20 minutes looking for 1 ball is taking the Michael not courses fault but the players but only experience of this was today
Hot sunny windless day
We played on a day where excuses were thin on the ground, but it was hot. As newbies we found the course great for driving and fair, but staying on the fairways was paramount. The course is very flat and the self service 9th hole hut and refreshments were very welcome with £1.00 coffee /tea machine and toilet replenishing water facility. We looked in the modern clubhouse and prices were reasonable but we didn't have time to avail ourselves. We will play here again soon.
Excellent value at £12.
Although the greens were a bit slow and grainy they were true and in good condition. Tee boxes in good positions and course playing it's full distance. Bad shots punished but no silly long rough. Fantastic value and the weather and facilities were excellent.
Slow but a good experience
Good course and recovered well from harsh winter conditions. course played well.
