Selby Golf Club

New range area and practise facilities good, still lots of work going on but temporary building in place, pro was friendly.

Got off on time course was absolutely packed but no issue, weather was good after two holes the group in front invited me through as they’d lost balls, I thanked them and got nothing back.

Anyway I paced myself to keep contact with the group infront but now the group who were now behind were impatient, they came up to me twice and asked if I’d asked to play through I said there seemed no point as bases were loaded.

On the 9th tee they told me I was holding everyone up somehow I was 1 over and waiting to tee off!

Absolute lunatics! anyway I came off at the 9th green and went to play my home course.

So worked out very expensive for 9holes and a 50minute drive.

Shame when a few people ruin a quiet afternoon, pace was ok I was 1:50 hr following someone on every hole so wasn’t slow really

Temporary clubhouse marquee due to clubhouse rebuild but still managed to get a bacon butty just before play. The kitchen opened at 10:30.

The course is an enjoyable layout and was in good condition even after the long hot Summer. The fairways were greening up again after the welcome, recent rain. The greens were consistent and nice paced with interesting borrows. Bunkers were good too.

An enjoyable day but the £45 GolfNow green fee was top end in my opinion.

It’s a well designed course in good condition (subject to the summer) we enjoyed the challenge and set up of the course. It will be a great venue once the new club house opens

Even with the clubhouse closed for rebuilding the whole temporary facilities were fantastic

Never played Selby before and was looking forward to it. We went into the Golf Shop and encountered the most disinterested and unwelcoming member of staff we have ever come across in all of our many years playing golf. He could barely bring himself to speak to us and when my husband tried to make polite conversation he treated us like dirt. The course was enjoyable and members we came across on the course were very friendly. We will not visit again - common courtesy is not a lot to ask for.

Very nice course, first time I’ve played there. Pretty flat so easy to get around. Handicaps <20 may not find if very challenging.

Tees and greens in excellent condition. Clubhouse under renovation so temporary club shop and lounge in use at the moment.

I’ll definitely play it again.

Great course, with immaculate greens, difficult to read but very pacey.

Easy one of the best courses I’ve Alex this year. Can’t stop going on about how good the greens were!!!!!

This course has a good pedigree being over 100 years old and built on sand so is free draining - never gets muddy!. Great traditional layout - some tight holes and greens are excellent. Parkland/links feel. Very good challenging holes from white tees - will suit intermediate/advanced golfers more than novices. Good off course facilities and catering (when not subject to COVID-19 restrictions).
