Good course value for money only trouble was buggies
GPS around course kept playing up to sensitive
Course was playable when other wasn’t
I’ve played many course versions the past month and since playing Stockley. It was in a far better playing condition than any other. This course has improved vastly over the past 12 and would recommend anyone to play.
Great course layout and winter drainage
Played Stockley 3 times this winter between Jan-Feb - despite the monumental rain the course has always been playable with decent fairways and rough, no deep plugs or excessive ball cleaning. They were even pumping puddles out into the lake sections on a few rounds which was impressive! For £20-25 its such great value for a championship designed course. The greens are lacking a little love but you can't complain for the price, pace of play usually good.
Good course and played well
The course was a bit wet but that’s wot you expect in the winter , and the winter tee box’s was a little rough but apart from that the course played well and defo go back next time I am down there again
Very Mid Course
First time playing here. Greens were terrible. Not very well kept at all. Ended up getting backed up with players in front and had to wait at tee boxes for about 10 minutes at one point. Overall probably won’t go again unfortuently..
Great value, but cart/buggy is expensive
Really enjoyed the course. Challenging, but only from the back tees. There are 3 sets of tees, yellows are at the back. Great value for the tee time, but cart was 32 quid. It's walkable, but the holes are pretty far apart on the back 9. It'd be great to walk the front and ride the back because of the layout. Lots of elevation change, and a few tight fairways mixed with mostly open views. quite a few blind tee shots, so it pays to know where to miss.
It was midday midweek so the course was very open. Everyone was really great. Didn't stay for a pint, but grabbed a sausage roll at the turn. Looked well kept in there.
Good
Good golf course especially after rain , bit of Challenging green. It’s good Staff is very friendly in pro shop well done
Very long (and that the distance between holes)
One of the weirdest laid out courses I have played with some very, very long wlaks between holes (part of course split in two by large dual carriageway. Course not in great nick sadly. Weather hasn't helped but all the tees undergoing remedial; fairways hardly have a blade of grass; some greens damaged by birds and animals and one covered in bird excrement.
Unless you are fit you really need a buggy, otherwise it is a long slog. The layout of the holes themselves are generally good and challenging. Maybe I'll return when it has rained a bit.
Condition of course poor
In 40 years of playing golf that has to be the worst condition of a golf course i have ever played will never go back there again not if it was for free
Poorly maintained
Don't think Ive ever seen a green keeper out on the course. Tee boxes are bare with just mud on them, the greens have cracks and crators all over them. The fairways were ok but still need work.
It's a shame because the facilities are good for pre and post rounds. Gets let down by the up keep of the course. It has a lot of potential but really poorly kept.
Layout is good but...
Fairway and green condition was poor. No grass at tee off points. Should have more signage to next hole.
