Walsall Golf Club
Great course and amenities…slightly slow pace of play but nothing out of the ordinary
Hidden gem
This course is over 100 years old and the landscape is mature and very pleasant to admire. The greens run very true and the fairways are in good condition considering the wet start to 2024, if you can hit them, which I largely failed to do. The pro shop staff were very welcoming as were the golfers out on the course. It’s my second time and it was better than I remembered with plenty of bunkers and natural features to challenge your game. It lacks water hazards bar the brook that meanders through the course which is probably a blessed or my final score card. Overall I would strongly recommend and it’s very peaceful given it’s in such an urban setting.
Lovely course, will revisit in summer
Lovely course, has not failed well with all the recent rain, so although a lovely sunny June day was still very soft underfoot. Will definitely revisit when the weather has been a bit drier! Very friendly staff and members, very welcoming.
Great track.
Bit soft under foot when we went, but that is all. The course layout is amazing, you need all the shots for this one. I can only imagine how good it will be in the summer (if we get one 🙄). Get yourselves down there.
Walsall Golf Club
A challenging course with mature tree-lined fairways, not surprising given how old the course is. The fairways were wet, even boggy in places, but then again how many courses aren’t at present but it did not spoil the enjoyment of an afternoons golf. The greens were running true and in good condition considering the rain we’ve had of late. The club were very friendly from the moment we arrived to the drinks in the bar afterwards, enjoyed the course so much I’m considering joining. Either way we will certainly be coming back, hopefully with the fairways dry and the sun on our backs!
Great course
Fantastic golf course, bunkers need some work, which h I was told they have plans to sort out
Wouldn't stop me playing there again, staff are really friendly specially in the bar, 3 lovely girls
Great condition Beautiful course
Love this gem of a course hidden away in walsall. Wouldnt think this was in a place like walsall. Single ball let through buy 3 groups.
A bit boggy still.
Very nice course, but due to the amount of rain it's still very boggy in places. Lost a few balls due to getting plugged. Also bunkers could do with some attention. Greens were good. No hold ups,, so enjoyed my round!!
Great course
Course in great condition with all the rain we ve had and really friendly members
Give it time…
Played the course today for the first time in a two ball, Went round in just under four hours.
The course layout is challenging and long, It is a little wet in places and the greens need a little TLC however given the weather and the price we paid, you won’t find much better in the area
Give it a go, very friendly members!
Fairways or Rough, you decide.
Shocking course conditions, there is no fairways, they are the same length as the rough. Every group I saw was always looking for their ball on the fairway as you could not find them in the fairway jungle.
If they are unable to maintain the course due to the weather, then close it as it was like playing a council course.
You arrive to a private gate and think this could be a nice course, but no, the greens were bumpy, fairways non-existent and the pace of play was shocking. Overall considering a full 7-day membership is £1440 this course is seriously not well kept.
Boggy
Course to boggy in places . Lost balls because of plugging in middle of the fairway.
Needs attention
The time of year/weather may have a bearing on this review so I’m trying not to be too critical.
Staff were very welcoming upon arrival and guided me to changing facilities and 1st tee.
The course in general was waterlogged and muddy in large patches, greens mostly sand. A lot of leaves across the course making it difficult to find a ball in the rough and sometimes putting impacted too.
The course layout wasn’t signposted very well and no course layout on scorecards made me believe it was a 9 hole course as I found myself back at the 1st tee instead of the 10th.
Walked off after 10 holes due to the above.
