West Derby Golf Club

Golf course is not in the greatest of conditions. Too many temp greens and the temp greens are the worst I’ve seen on a golf course. Ground is like slush in most places. I believe there has always been an issue with drainage at this course.

Very good for the time of year and especially with the rain over the weekend. Winter mats and, I think 4, winter greens in play, understandable. The greens that were in play rolled well. No plugs when hitting a teeshot down the fairway. Overall I highly recommend

Played during winter and the course had some works going on, but still enjoyable round. Brilliant greens especially for winter time and a couple quite challenging. Definitely not a boring course, good variety of layouts, will definitely be playing here again and great value for money.

I liked the new course lay out but very untidy in places and lots of work still to be done .

New caterer very friendly so hope they can stay !

Why are so many Past Captains leaving a great long established club with fantastic history ??

The course has had 4 holes completely remodeled and turned around. We played after this has been done, but some simple things were missing such as tee signs (how long is the hole?) and signage to the next tee from a green. The new turf and quite a bit of existing has not fared well with recent drought conditions and the new holes haven't yet fully settled. That said, its a lovely, picturesque course with friendly staff and (when we played) very little other players on it and nice secure car park now.

Great day from start to finish, challenging par 3,4 and 5s , greens in excellent condition, well worth a vist, excellent value for the money

It was good weather and we teed off at 12.50.course was quiet and we never had to wait.the greens were very good apart from the 7th.

About 3 hours to get round as a 2 ball which is a winner, new course layout. Greens are running nice just a little bumpy with them being hollow tine but will be perfect in a couple of weeks, well worth a visit!

Holes 3-9 all having work done on them. Trees taken out. Greens off. JCB on the course. Temp greens. A few greens on the back nine relaid. I would say give it a year before I go back again.

Wasnt informed of the course conditions and layout temp greens in play on some holes again wasnt informed and the scorecard was pointless as it still had the old course hole layout on wont be playing there again or recommend it to anyone very disappointed

Have played West Derby many times pre Lockdown and always enjoyed it, even though it has a reputation for getting muddy underfoor around the Brook holes during off season, I was disappointed to find the course in its current state, with no notice given. I booked an early tee time online, as needed to complete round before midday. On arrival the pro shop and Clubhouse were shut, and were still not ipen after completing4 holes. It had not been made clear that course is undergoing repair, all tees were off mats and a number of holes were on temp greens. The order of holes has been changed because of renovation, but signage was none existent, so struggled to actually plot our way around the course. Would recommend calling ahead and checking state of course amd renovation work before booking here.

Gutted, I couldn’t make it as a friend of mine contracted Covid. Tried to cancel then change the dates online, it wouldn’t let me.
