Late October Round
Course was in fantastic condition and the variety of holes is great. Really enjoyed it.
Only (fairly major) downside was the pace of play. We had to wait on the tee on every hole after the third. The course would definitely benefit from additional Marshals/a starter as it was really frustrating to be held up so constantly.
If that is sorted I wouldn’t hesitate to play the course again and would recommend it to anyone.
Costly but in good condition
Now that the colder climate is settling in and days are much shorter, thought the cost for the last 4 hours of possible play would go down. Thx to GN it did a bit. However, course in good nick, may be the tees need a bit more rotating but set up nicely overall. Bit worried by amount of cars and people when we turned up but got round in 3.5 hrs so that was a bonus. Very playable and would visit again if cost came down....
Great scenery, great value
Course was fantastic, would definitely play again. Interesting course, great scenery.
Slow play meant light stopped play!
Second time ive played here and the greens especially were still in excellent condition being pacey and receptive at the same time. What became incredibly frustrating was the SLOW PLAY by seemingly every great in front us meaning we could only managed 13 holes before we had to walk in because of darkness. Incredibly annoying as we had paid for 18 holes and only received 13!
Firm underfoot but plenty of grass
The many tree-lined fairways at Westerham are on the narrow side so overenthusiastic big hitting is likely to be punished. Chose your most reliable and accurate clubs wherever you can. There are also a number of holes where the first shot can scoot off down a hill - this is easily avoided by playing a shorter first shot and taking the slope with your second. The course has pretty much recovered from the parching of midsummer reported by others but it is still firm underfoot and the ball will go prodigious distances given half a chance. A good challenge and I will be back.
Amazing course pace of play is extremely slow
Amazing course and a real shame as they do not screen anyone that goes on during visitor tee times. I am all for inclusiveness of the game and everyone starts somewhere but this is not an easy course hacking it round 20 yards at a time is just not gonna allow you to get round in an acceptable time here and there should be a Marshall on the course managing this. Took us 4:15 to do 18 holes and we were waiting 3-5 mins on every tee.
Needs a marshall
Pace painfully slow. We were a two ball and gave up after 9 holes - nearly 2.5 hours, Marshall required
Green s good but some fairways poor condition
Great Club Great round
Very nice woodland setting with some challenging holes. Fiendly unpretentious Club
Beautiful course with some challenging holes
We were slightly concerned with the reports of slow play in the reviews, but for the most part we didn’t have any problems albeit things became a bit congested from 14 and a couple of 4 ball groups let us play through. The course has some lovely holes, especially 2, 9 (into a green in front of the club house over water), 11 (a lovely short downhill par 3), 15 (a good chance to drive this hole with a well hit drive from the tee), and the feature 18th hole over the water in front of the clubhouse. Some holes are less good - 10 in particular which is a long uphill par 5 but with a huge tree obstructing shots to the green even from a good approach shot which seems unfair. All in all, a good course and in excellent condition. 8/10
Good course
Getting dry this time of year but a great course with some lovely features. One of the more difficult course when the ground is hard.
5hrs 10 minutes round!!!
Turned up on Saturday after booking a tee time on the golf now app. 3 of us turned up on the first tee to the find out that they double booked our slot as we both had a 2.24pm tee time! Not once did we see a Marshall on the golf course speeding up play and there was 5 occasions where there were 3 groups on each tee at any one time. A 5 hour 10 minute round for a 3 ball is simply not good enough and they need to look at there system and instead of double booking people, look to increase the gaps between tee times. Greens were in good condition, fairways weren’t great.
Potentially stunning but suffering right now
The quality of this tricky, hilly, parkland course is clear with what appeared to be excellent facilities and an impressive clubhouse and approach. However, once on the course, the fairways were bare with tricky lies and there were signs of tired maintenance. Difficult to assess whether the condition of the course was down to the volume of players or a leftover from the pandemic but given the pace of play it felt like the course simply wasn’t getting the time to breathe. That said, there are signs of quality greenkeeping and hopefully time will allow the team to get this course back to the its true potential. An extra £5 and an extra 5 minutes per tee time may make a difference for the long term success.
Great course well set up
Played a 2 ball at Westerham on a Tuesday afternoon. The course had clearly had a lot of traffic but had still held up, in particular the greens were receptive to approach shots but also a very good pace when putting. Driver stayed in the bag for most of the round as not needed for most holes. Some very visually appealing holes and great views as you make your way around. I would definitely play here again!
