Great Value
Played here on Wednesday & considering the weather conditions in recent weeks has not been the best, We found the course in really good shape. The Greens have had some work on them & are playing quite fast, can't wait to see play it in a few weeks again. Views are stunning & as usual the course was very challenging again. Would definitely recommend this track, very challenging keeps you thinking of every shot you play & positional play is key for the long holes.
A course of 2 Nines
Completely contrasting front and back nines make this a unique golfing experience. The front nine is very hilly with steep inclines and declines making distances difficult to judge and most lies are challenging to adapt to. The back nine is more reminiscent of a typical parkland course, but it is much longer so is still not easy. Only thing I’d say is that the greens could have been in better shape.
Greens are awful
paid £40 to play and the greens are really bad! front nine is very testing with some of the holes steep but back nine was lovely just the green reallt spoilt it. it's a shame
Tough Test
The first 9 is a fantastic layout and very hilly, particularly 3rd.
This golf course is brilliant a few hilly holes on first nine , a few sloping lies but it will keep your interest up. I would prefer to play first nine twice. Second nine is a challenge aswell but flat so you have the best of both. Some of the tees on this course are really great , value for money by far best golf course round here harder than leek but way better.
West wood leek
Omg this course is definitely a game of two half’s
Front 9 is all over the place hills ridges valleys
It’s got it all.
Back 9 is completely different flat river bed.
But still as exciting.
100% play this course you won’t regret it.
The course :
Tee boxes perfect
Fairway fantastic
Green are true and perfect condition
Very Challenging Front 9
Excellent Course, 1st 9 Holes Both Physically & Mentally Drained me but still managed to bag a par .on 2nd & Birdie on 9th. However had nightmare on 3rd & could have quite easily walked back to clubhouse for 6 pints. Very difficult playing full shots on slopes. Back 9 far easier & flat but still very challenging. I’d highly recommend this to anyone to play, but if unfit like me get a buggy for 1st 9.
Not for the faint hearted
I played this course on 26/08/24...
All started good on arrival course looked in excellent condition and only £15 for 18 holes...
BUT I've never played a golf course so with so steep uphill & downhill fairways....
The 3rd hole must be 300 yards uphill at a 60 degree climb (if your not healthy you won't make it lol)
The front 9 holes really are tiring on your calfs and a buggy is a must (but we're all booked out).
Course in general had some cracking tee off shots and scenery on front 9 was amazing....
Back 9 the course is flat and greens were decent all 18 holes!
Due to the course only costing £15pp it did have alot of beginners on but speed of play was ok 👍
I would only return if a buggy was available the steep hills have certainly put me off.
Overall 6/10
Back after 58 years
I was keen to play the 9 holes which were my first years of golf as an 8 year old. The course was in great condition and there had been various improvements, especially the 2nd. More scenic as a result of trees being very well established. Hiring an electric cart was a great idea, especially for the 3rd. It's a shame the 1st and 9th still share a fairway, which must be tricky when busy. We teed off at 7:45 so no problem playing the 1st and not too bed playing the 9th.
Great price, course in good condition
Lovely round of golf. Course in good condition, friendly staff and great food after as well 👍👍😊😊
game of 2 halves
Found playing this course quite a challenge. Good job I didn't try and carry my clubs.
Right from arriving, staff terrific to me.
On my hols , so playing was a 1 off.
7 elevated tees on the front 9 I loved, but you had to be so accurate with some of you drives.
I loved the challenge.
Different sort of challenge on back 9 , but again accuracy and length required on some approaches.
Lovely first 9 then…
Westwood is a really good challenge and the first nine are fabulous. Unfortunately when I got to the second bone which is flat and parkland like I ran up against three members who just refused to let me through. I stood behind their tee as they lumped it 70 years from 10 all the way to 18. Made it a very frustrating and disturbing finish. Do they know about etiquette??!
Tough but enjoyable
Very well looked after. Front 9 is very strenuous with very steep hills throughout. Back 9 very flat and a lot more simple. A few crossovers and you use the same fairway for 16 and 17. Overall, it’s a lovely course, scenic and very well maintained but bring your hiking gear for hole 3.
I think that's a bit unfair, a lot of clubs in the surrounding area are struggling worse off than Westwood with their "Greens" due to the weather & ground temperatures not helping. I play Westwood regularly & the Greens are always awesome, they will come good with the weather forecast over the coming weeks. They have the best Greens in my opinion in the area, as I said the weather has not helped recently.
