Very slow pace of play, no-one enforcing it.
On arrival the pro immediately said it would be a five hour round. I don't know why they aren't marshalling those groups that are ruining it for the rest of us. It also seemed no-one that day was bothering to rake the bunkers after themselves. There was a Marshall cart going around but it was just someone serving drinks.
It's a nice course which was really suffering from the lack of rain, some greens had no grass, not sure their sprinklers are up to the task.
Great facilities as its a hotel complex.
Sunday Evening tee off
A Sunday evening tee off. Perfect as course was pretty much empty. Only down side most of the greens were half brown and black and the other half green. Shame as the course is a nice course to play
Poorly maintained
Dreadfully maintained course bunkers full off weeds greens are the worst I have seen in a long time. The status of being a championship course should be revoked as the course has definitely fallen way below par (no pun intended)
Wokefield Park - 1st Timer
played this course for 1st time, 21/06/2025. For £35 I thought, overall, very good value. Played off the black tees so 6100 yards, from the yellow is 6400.
Need to be straight off the tee, rough was brutal, lost ball every time. this may be due to the recent hot weather. Recommend buying the stroke saver, £10.
the course makes you think on each hole, whether to lay up or go for the risky shot over water and rough. Lots of ponds to capture the ball.
I was a one ball so was held up a few times, but that was expected. still got round in 4 hours.
recommend a buggy as good walk between tees, especially from 9th green to 10th tee. Signage generally good, needs more between 9 and 10. halfway house also although closed when I played.
Tees and some greens were burnt brown, fairways lush.
Would definitely play again.
Clubhouse staff overworked, but was very busy and wifi is rubbish. Food not great quality.
Good venue for a 1 night, 2 round weekend.
golf now customers can play all day mon-fri and after 230pm sat, 3pm Sunday
Enjoyable course.
First time playing here so didn’t know what to expect since some reviews were very negative.
Ok, the course in some ways was not in a good condition. Patchy greens and tee boxes. Fairways were ok. Having said though the greens were true and very very fast. The course has great layout with bunkers, long grass, trees and bushes are positioned to make you think about your next shot. Despite the very dry condition of the course this somehow added to the general feel good factor playing this course. Will definitely play again.
Negative side is the cost of a buggy at £40 is a little steep and the pro shop only had cold Coca Cola for sale.
Lovely course but needs TLC
Great layout for a golf course but tee boxes uncut and many greens in poor condition with bare patches and mossy areas. Fairways nice.
Good course for the price
Great place and good layout of the course. Greens and tee boxes have seen better days and need some treatment but fairways were okay. Would recommend for the price.
Poor Standard Greens and Tee Boxes
The greens were patchy, either animals or poorly repaired pitch marks have caused patches on the greens. Either way they were not well maintained. The tee boxes were uneven and not tightly cut. There is a lot of potential for a great course with all the sand traps and water hazards but it is let down by the tee boxes and greens.
Amazing value for money
Played in spring so we knew the course was going to not be I the greatest condition but some of the greens were quite bad. Fairways and tees were good and a few bunkers were GUR but for the price you really can't complain. The layout is stunning through the grounds of the Wokefield estate and despite a very long walk to the 10th tee the course is easy walking with some nice rolling hills which were not strenuous. I played here 20 years ago and the quality of the course has some what slipped but again, the value for money was epic. Great off course facilities too. Would highly recommend a visit as other courses in the area are double the green fee or more.
Need to extend the gap between players
We are not fast but over took a number of players due to the slow pace. They needed to extend the gap between the players. The course could be so much better., Not really looked after eg the course was dry and brown in places. Which is odd because the place has plenty of water around. Sand bunker edges we not sharp or trimmed. Ground was falling into sand. We like the course though as it is challenging. Would be nicer if it was better looked after though.
Enjoyable round
The course was in decent condition after all the rain of the past months. Teed around 10am for £30 which I think is great value compared to other courses in the South. I will definitely be playing there again this year.
Great value and well kept course
Great value via golf now. Very well kept. Firendly staff
