Good test for beginners, good fun for better players, terrible greens
Course layout and hole designs are great and there are lots of great holes with different options off the tee. The greens were horrendous- slow, bobbly and inconsistent speeds, but this didn’t really detract much from the layout. For £12.50 for 18 holes you can’t really complain too much!
Brilliant experience. A different type of greens!
The greens are from another world. The rough is sometimes die for. Enjoyable play
Excellent day of golf
The course and greens were in great condition really good value for money and a great day out
No improvement- Shocking Greens
After playing this course before the pandemic and being advised by staff at the time of the improvement planned, my boys and I decided to go back and give it a go. Sadly the greens have gotten worse and the bunkers have not had work done on them for a long time by the looks of it. This place has plenty of potential but needs someone with a golf brain to take it on. Spend more on the course than the bungalows. Sadly we won’t be back
Needs work on putting green
Needs some work on the putting green part from that I love it
Nice course
A nice course. Greens not good. Very very slow and not cut short.
An improving course that represents fair value
It's a down-to-early and straightforward club with zero pretentiousness that's recovering from a previous bad name (the old owners). I'm happy to report that the course condition was fair-to-good yesterday. The biggest improvement I've seen in the past year is on the greens, which were a little "grassy" and slow but are absolutely getting better than previous reviews suggest. Don't be put off by historically bad reviews, but go in with your eyes open that at around £15 a tee time you're not going to get totally pure greens and incredible conditioning - but a course that's unflashy and in pretty decent knick all things considered. If the progress continues for another year this place has the potential to be really quite good indeed. Pace of play was quick as it was a Monday afternoon and there were hardly any other people out on the course.
Great Beginners Course
This course is a well laid out and very enjoyable course. Par 3s on this course have potential to be some of the best in the area. Fairways and course layout challenging to even experienced golfers. Giving you a chance to really think about course management.
A few things I would say could on my opinion would need more time taken on the tee boxes but with this time of year abit of mud is expected. Be more of the presentation of them.
Bunkers on the course, can’t say I had to play out of any but when walking a round most looked low on sand and had weeds growing through them.
Finally I would say the greens. They are not the best to putt on but again as a beginners course more then achievable for what is necessary. Pitch marks left in the greens which is not the green keepers fault but memebers and visitors. Maybe reiterate to players going out onto the course to repair pitch marks.
Overall Great morning out and would recommend to anyone. Will play this course again with friends.
Brinkworth golf club
First time I played the course £18 for a round makes it great value for money. The course condition was good some of the greens leave a lot to be desired. There are some beautiful views over the Wiltshire countryside. The first Tee is a long way from the clubhouse and a bit difficult to find if you’ve never played the course before, more signage would help. Watch out for balls coming at you from all angles as fairways are close together
Nice Club & Great Value
It's probably safe to say this club will never host the Ryder Cup or The Open, the course isn't of the highest quality and the facilities are somewhat limited. But for what you pay, it's more than acceptable and great value. The course is manageable for high handicappers, but also offers some decent challenges for the better player. The greens aren't great but I understand they are working to improve these. Friendly staff and a nice cold beer afterwards which always helps! Brinkworth offers great value for money and a decent round of golf, and is somewhere I will look forward to visiting again.
Cheap and gettable course
Not a bad course and some easy ish holes to try and get some good scoring. Downfall are the greens, grass quite long and a bit sandy very difficult to judge putting. Overall nice enough course for the money
Nice course
Second time playing.
greens are improving nicely cut fairways.
Excellent day out .
Great! However... Greens
Had a lovely round yesterday here, dispite not olaying my best. Have played here many times this year. Challenging holes, good layout etc. Always welcomed by friendly staff upon arrival which is a plus.
I know management are aware, as I am sure it is a work in progress, however, some of the greens are really poor. Makes a good drove and approach shot feel let down by unreadable greens, moss etc.
Nonethless, I will play here again, but maybe once the greens have seen the work they need. Ive heard they used to be astroturf?! Needless to say theve come a long way since then.
On the whole a great course which I'm sure will go from strength to strength.
Incredible value, friendly staff and really enjoyable
I have now played Brinkworth twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. The staff are really friendly, welcoming and accommodating.
Obviously if you are paying £12 for a round of golf you aren't expecting the world, but I actually really like the course. It's forgiving for the casual and occasional golfer that I am but had the odd hazard that is challenging. It's real limitations are the quality of the grass on the greens and I'm not a fan of the last two holes that have been squeezed in but I can't complain. Again the price is amazing.
