Riverwood Golf Club - Riverview/Meadowlands Course

I had a great time playing with visiting family. The course layout was challenging especially on a cold afternoon. I definitely plan to enjoy Riverwood Golf Course in the near future.

Was not a bad layout for a low handicapper. The greens are extremely grainy/bumpy and slow. For that reason alone, I wouldn't return. It was impossible to make putts on those surfaces.

An often overlooked gen in the spirit of a Tot Hill or mountain type golf course with great views and undulations. Amazing natural areas next to the Neuse with many types of shots required. The greens are coming in nicely, skating girly spongy but beautiful and rolls true. An excellent value with very few on the course during the week. The staff are professional and appreciate you being there.

Overall a hidden gem and highly underrated- the staff was professional and friendly. The Meadowlands were amazing with scenery throughout and a very challenging layout with nearly perfect greens. Everything was excellent. Par fives were lengthy and challenging. Every club in the bag was used minus the six iron with plenty of left to right and right to left holes. I will play here again and highly recommend.

Only complaint was that half the greens were being aeirated and the other half were not. Was a tough adjustment would almost rather all 18 were being done. Positive though is since I was second group out and playing by myself played 18 in 2 hours 40 minutes.

Enjoyed the course tee to green. Greens were just aerated and very little true roll with putts. So, no chance to make many puts (only very very close). Was told the greens were just aerated, but playable. This was not correct in my opinion. Would have asked for refund, but did not bother.

Price was high for location and conditions. Greens rough. Not watered. Dry and overcut

This course could be great. It is fairly challenging and keeps you on your toes. The overall condition of the course was not great. A lot of annual bluegrass in the fairways and the sand traps were pretty nasty. The greens were in horrible condition. They are bermuda greens I believe, and I would assume they over seed them during the winter. Something went wrong this year, as they have taken a serious beating. They are trying to fix them but some of them had so much sand on them that it was difficult to putt on them. The cart path was also in need of repair in several areas.

The staff was not very friendly - I admit that we screwed up and took a golf cart on the course when there was a posted sign to keep carts on the path on that hole - 100% my fault. Someone that worked there drove up very fast and moved our cart to the path and was very aggressive with us, even after we apologized. The situation could have been handled much better by simply telling us what we did wrong and asking us to pay attention and not do it again. No reason to be as aggressive as he was.

I really liked the course and would go back if they can get the greens in better shape.

It has been a few years since I last played Riverwood, and we decided to give it a shot. I've always liked the layout of this course. Good drives are rewarded and there are quite a few holes that make you think about your shot selection. Smart placement of water, trees, and bunkers, and while there are houses on the course, they are out of the way.

The greens are in absolutely terrible condition. They were very heavily sanded, diseased, and damaged. If you're looking for greens that roll true and a solid round, do not play here right now. There was diseased spots in the fairway as well, but they were in average condition. There were also multiple tee boxes closed with artificial tee boxes in place. I would assume this is temporary, but the artificial tees had obviously been there for quite some time.

I found the clubhouse staff to be rude. We also had to wait for the groundskeepers to stop mowing to tee off; he mowed the entire fairway before moving aside for us to play.

There are better courses for less money in Clayton who welcome your business, and a ton of better options in and around Raleigh.

First, the GolfNow information said that range balls were included, but the range was closed, and not noted in the description. The course is in very poor condition for this time of year. The greens look like they are in the process of being killed before being replaced, but I was informed they are not being replaced. There are extensive brown patches on every hole, shaggy t-boxes, bare spots and artificial grass tees on a couple of par 3's because the boxes are in such bad shape. The greens are really bad, many sections that have almost no grass, and they are rough. The balls do hold on the greens, but that is about the only positive thing to say.

I like the layout, it could be a very nice course, but the lack of upkeep means you can find far better values at other places.

If this is truly the best-maintained Fred Smith course, I will not be playing any of the others.

Great value! Would definitely play again. Staff went out of their way to be helpful.

RiverWood is coming around with the warm weather. The fairways are still a little thin but rough is filling in. Greens are on the quick side. Overall, this is the best condition of any of the Fred Smith courses. Should be in good condition with a little rain/heat by June.

Fairways tee box in bad condition greens very fast maybe needs time for grass to grow in

My golf group has played 4 different courses a month for years. Riverwood appeared back on Golfnow so we had to see it again. They seemed to be off Golfnow for a few years, but I must say this course looked and played excellent and is back in our monthly rotation. The greens were flawless, and everything else was in order and good shape although winter dormant. The clubhouse is older, but the views from the top of the hill at the clubhouse are spectacular. Check-in was seamless, as the golf professionals on duty were very friendly and helpful. The young man who checked us in-Bryson, explained the history of the course and then led us outside to show the layout and where to go for everything. From there it was driving range (great facility), short game area, and lightning quick putting green which got us ready for the course. Pace of play was super as our foursome played our normal 3.5 hours. The rates are the lowest for a course of this caliber we have ever played. $30 on weekdays and $45 on weekends before 1pm!! This course could be charging $75 a round on the weekend based on overall experience. Although there was no restarunt (just a basic snack bar), the other 5-star ratings speak for themselves . This course is back in a big way. It was a great experience years ago, but now back on Golfnow I can confirm this is the best value in the entire triangle.

I played this beautiful 27 hole golf course for the first time ever the other day. I fell in love with it tough but fair, the greens were fast and great shape. The golf staff inside were amazing and were very friendly. At the end of the day i end up signing up for a membership which includes four golf course, unlimited range balls,and no cart fee for only $211. That is a steal for how nice this golf course is. Everyone should go out and try this golf course and the rates are a great price for the quality of this course. highly recommended
