Ridgemark Golf & Country Club

We're in a drought and this course has held up pretty well. However the putting green needs to be mowed and manicured...it's terrible!

I understand they used to have two decent courses here. New owners have pushed two courses togather- "the best holes" -because they can't afford to maintain two courses. this leads to extensive driving between some holes! There were a couple of interesting holes. Otherwise unremarkable and the usual brown fairways and torn up tee boxes. Greens were in good condition. I played with locals who said it used to be really nice. None of the course apps have caught up to the new layout so you can't really use one unless you know that 13 used to be 17 on the old course etc. etc.....If you live near here fine play it as it is low cost. If you are looking for a destination course I was told San Juan Oaks is much better

Sunday means NFL, so I could only attribute the lack of traffic on the course to golfers being glued to television sets. I am not complaining at all. The light traffic added up to a well paced and very enjoyable day at RG&CC. The staff was friendly and I found the course in great shape overall. The greens, while not lightening fast, were quite receptive and true. Kudos to the grounds crew! I look forward to coming back soon.

They got rid of 18 holes at Ridgemark and created a new combined layout. This was done to save money... due to the drought... Nevermind the fact that Ridgemark originally WAS an 18 hole course. And the original 18 hole course was readily available -- a very playable, interesting and challenging enough course. AND it included two straightforward nines that begin and end at the clubhouse. But instead the owner decided to re-route a strange and illogical new 18-hole layout, eliminating some great holes and leading to a disjointed, awkward routing which includes new tee boxes shaved into old fairways and epically-long cart rides between holes (this course is NOT walkable.)

The owner's decision to re-route was NOT due to the drought. He wants to build homes on the land, and he shut down the holes that made the best potential new homesites. He is not interested in running a golf course; his business is real estate. I respect his right to do with his property what he chooses. But he is ruining a great golf facility. I truly wish a new buyer will emerge and bring this place back to life. An owner who actually WANTS to be in the golf business and has some CLUE as to what it takes to run a successful golf course in a tough economic climate.

All things considered, the new layout is still playable. Goofy, but playable. But the greens are in horrendous shape. Putts simply do not roll true.

Go play San Juan. It's 5 minutes away.

The new layout is somewhat interesting. Seems as if they tried to make it quite long. 6,400 from the white tees. Overall course condition is fair. Fairways and fringes are in good condition. The greens were not in very good condition. They were lumpy and bumpy, just almost healed from the aeration, needed a lot of attention. The price was good, worth a return trip.

Course was in ok conditions... The greens were good but the fairway was not as prestine & would assess due to low water but ok for the low Golf now rate;

First time playing here since they combined Diablo and Gabilan into one course. I miss several of the Diablo holes that had a lot of character and don't feel they were replaced with anything so interesting. Nonetheless, this new combined course plays well and is well kept up in spite of the current drought. Greens are in good shape and roll fairly fast. I still rate this course as one of my favorites in the area.

Bad idea play nearly took 5 hours on a weekday

Well worth a $24 fee. Course is in relatively good condition and moderately difficult. Switch from 2, 18 hole courses to one has slowed down playing time. We used to play a round in about 3 and half hours; last round took abut 4 and a half.

this was two courses and changed to one and using holes from both and not done very well !

Love playing golf on the course causse it can be a difficult n challenge course it wad a beautiful day to play.

they have two decent courses, good layouts, feel warm in winter sunshine. well maintained greens, but other part of the course not that great.

Some of the fairways have spotty turf. Some greens are bumpy. But overall condition is good in the Fall season. This is pretty flat course comparing with some courses I usually play in SF Bay Area. It's a nice course for all levels of golfers. Great deal if you can tee times from golfnow.

The course had some great fairways that were just narrow enough to Make you think about your tee shot with ob on both sides, but also some wide ones. Greens were rolling at 9 and if you hit your line it went in I made a few nice long putts so for the end of nov the course was in great shape as were the greens .

Gabilan is an over all great coarse. Has very tuff long par 3's, with a couple short par 5's, (as well as long) and some tuff par 4's that require accurate placement shots. Grass is kept up well with true rolls on the greens. Fairways play close through homes so u have to keep your shots in play. Good luck when you tee off on #3! I think its the better of the two there. Not to big of a fan on Diablo side. The only bummer about the coarse is in the clubhouse. The manager name Scott is very rude and has been complained about by many people. If he picked up some people skills and treated people good I would have gave them 5 stars. But after you tee off on #1 you don't have to see him a again. This by far is my favorite coarse besides that!!!

Positives: greens are above average, better layout than a muni, and it's nice to play with light crowds. PLUS the value if you pay less than $15 is awesome.

Negatives: the grass is spotty, The flag colors are very hard to distinguish, so yardage to pins is near impossible if you don't bring a lazer. The yardage book they sell is an absolute joke. Has a picture of the hole with a few yardages thrown in. (it's only $1, but still).

It's a great value, but a mediocre course.

This is my home course and provides a challenging experience for the amateur golfer. Great value for the price.

I have played this course many times and always enjoy the round. There is something for everyone here, from holes requiring strategic placement of each shot to blast-away tee shots to a wide-open fairway, to greens that can vary in nature from hole to hole . Par threes are all medium to long-ish distance.
Course conditions can vary greatly around the year. A recent round found a few very dry, hard, almost grass-less spots on fairway locations and short approach shots whereas other holes had been cut too short and oversoaked and were mushy. The greens had been recently aerated but most were rolling nearly true.
All in all, the Gabilan course is a fun course to play and presents challenges at every level.

Beautiful setting, relaxed play, very well maintained. I wish these courses were closer to San Jose, if they were, I'd be a regular. Ridge mark is over an hours drive south of SJ. Recommend either course, a good value for the money. (Staff needs some training on customer service, beginning with the pro).
