Tucked away between the mountains and foothills of the Gabilan and Diablo Ranges, Ridgemark Golf & Country Club enjoys a peaceful, secluded setting. San Benito County has been especially hard hit by drought and as a way to make the best of a tough situation, the decision was made to combine the club's two championship courses into one, more challenging layout. Golfers who loved the former courses need not worry. The best holes have been incorporated in the new layout along with the addition of some new and interesting holes, like the tough risk-reward seventh hole. The golf course has plenty of challenges in store including doglegs, strategically placed bunkers, tree-lined fairways, and water hazards. At just shy of 7,000 yards from the back tees, there are some long holes that are especially tough but you'll get some great mountain views from the elevated tees.

The course was fun to play.

We had a great time and the whether was perfect. The only problem was the greens were recently sanded. Not too much fun putting, but it was good to get out.

This cousre has excellent amenities.

The course was in good condition overall, however some of the greens were being arrietated which made it harder to adjust the greens speed - not a major issue. Great weather!

You can almost always walk on and play quickly on a quality course.

Getting on at Ridgemark is seldom a problem. Pace of play is usually quick and both courses are challenging and well maintained. Gabilan is the longer of the two courses at Ridgemark, but if you can manage the long Par 3s you should score fairly well. The slope rating is a bit overstated in my opinion. Part of the reason it is so easy to get on at Ridgemark is that the club is well off the beaten path. That isolation allows for a quiet round of golf in a very scenic setting, with great views of the surrounding foothills on many of the holes. If you are someone who can sneak out on a weekday to work on your game, this is the place for you. They’ll often send you out on your own if you show up as a single.

Nice course. Great amenities!

Playing the Gabilan course at Ridgemark for the first time was a very good experience for our 4some. Didn't see any other players in front or in back of us the entire round! The course offered great value, terrific views, and a memorable day. The best part was, after we had finished 18 and were sitting down for a delicious lunch, it started pouring. Had everything working for us that day! Looking forward to playing the other 18 at Ridgemark, the Diablo Course.

A nice "hideaway" course

Course is in good shape. The pace was great as there was not a lot of groups teeing off before us as other munis do. We finally caught up with a group at the 11th hole, but they did slow us down. We will definitely come back.

Love the staff, layout, maintenance.

The only fault I could find was with the greens. Shaggy, bumpy and it seemed that the area around the cup wasn't tamped down flush with the immediate area around the cup.

fun challenging and great value

The course was in good shape considering the recent weather. Staff and players were friendly and welcoming. We felt part if this community the minute we walked through the doors. We played on a Monday and made a starting time for Thursday. ...I guess that says it all!

Both course offer challenges to all skill levels.

Course in good condition considering the recent rain, but the greens are as slow as molasses. Even during the dry season the greens need to be cut tighter. Be sure to bring your own water bottle as most of the drinking fountains on the course don't work.

Challenging greens

For me, this is not a course to play in the early morning. 5 of the front 9 look directly into the rising sun and the glare is daunting. Lots of doglegs and sloped, multi-tiered greens, so the course is challenging and the greens an adventure. Probably would have been a better experience with a mid-morning start...will play there again.

Course in very good condition

Under new ownership course has been vastly improved. Fairways, rough and greens have all been upgraded. Well worth the reasonable geen fees.

Great Value.

I played w/ my son using the GolfNow Supersaver rate. Great value if you dont mind an afternoon start. Ridgemarks greens get a little bumpy late afternoon but in general the courses are in good shape.

Good value and friendly staff.

The course is in pretty good shape. It looks like they are re-seeding some brown spots in the fairways, but no problems. We played on an overcast day and had the course to ourselves, it was great.

Enjoy a good track with usual fabulous weather

Two great golf courses in great shape which you can usually play within 4 and 1/4 hours. You will usually find great weather with fantastic views of the mountain ranges. The facility offers a driving range with putting greens and chipping green. There are many areas to eat in and outside the club house, plus a huge bar.
Have Fun!

Great price for any course, even if conditions are lacking

The Greens were slow and very bumpy and uneven.
The Sand traps were laking care and inconsistant, some had 1/4 inch of sand and clay under that, others had fine grain sand, some were actually normal.
Lots of dead spots on the fairways, we declared them GUR even though none were marked as such.
The course still is playable, especailly for the price.

Cheap and good

Ridgemark is in no way a country club. The greens are extremely bumpy because they don't roll them everyday. I were told they roll only 4 greens/18holes/day. It's kind of odd but I think it's true. I wish they would roll every greens every day and I would be very happy to pay a bit extra for it. Maybe $5/round.

Love Ridgemark

Ridgemark is a bit of a drive for me but I love it there. The staff is super-friendly and the 36 hole layout is great. My personal low score (80) is on their Gabilan course so I have fond memories.

Soggy

The greens were VERY spiked up and the course was soggy in many areas where some were marked as hazzards and most were not.
