High Legh Park Golf Club - Academy Course

Had a bit of rain the night before but course was still in good playing condition. Quick course to get round and some nice holes

The course was looking good for this time of year ,good lay out of holes ,good test of your golf ing skill I never put stars on off coasrse amenities , because it is close at the moment

Overall a very enjoyable 9 hole coasrse too play

Only negative course layout from the academy 9 holes combines with 18 holes course,just more visual signs would be helpful but all in all great course and will definitely be back

A very compact course and with that, very many risks if you’re prone to the odd wayward ball. Even if you’re not though, others are so prepare yourself for plenty of ducking behind your bag when the shout of “FORE” is called. Only a 9 hole course but there were 6 shouts that we had to look out for which is less than ideal.

As for the pace of play....... just terrible, especially coming up to the 7th hole.

Never played here before but would do so again. The course really needs some drainage though as it was soaked in a lot of places

This course is my go-to if I want a quick 9 holes. I actually think it’s a more interesting course than the 18 hole championship course here as it has a better variety of holes. The only issue is that there are no par 5s, however there are a few gems of par 4s. In particular, hole 7 which is a dogleg left where yours second shot is over water down a thin tree lined channel to the pin particularly stands out.

Everything about the course is fine but it was far too wet to play. I don’t like the options of forfeiting money or wading through ridiculous amounts of water. The course should have been closed and money refunded. Paths between holes were flooded so you’d have to wade through shin deep water or clamber around the path. Loads of standing water on fairways and some greens. Bunkers full to the brim.

Taking money in this situation is counter productive because players won’t enjoy it and serious damage will be done to the course.

Turn up and play with ease, a few challenging holes and good pace of play. The Tees and greens require attention, the fairways are good

We had an enjoyable round on a Sunday morning. I didn't notice any of the issues with the course as mentioned by other reviewers. One green was a bit damp but that was due to the location as it's very shady nestled among tall trees (it was also the tough and interesting dog-leg hole which other reviewers have also mentioned). Overall a very good test and no complaints for £11pp!

The tee areas on all 9 holes were very worn and some were muddy greens ok but one or two had chunks missing filled in with sand rough was to severe up to over a foot in places and just off the fairway too not a good course for a high handicap player

The setup seems nice with lots of stuff going on. The academy course though was a bit odd. After the first hole i had to walk what seemed like forever over a stone path. Got a bit lost on a few holes. Apart from that it was fairly good
