Fantastic value
Play here a lot as it's my local course, can't be beaten on value, fantastic course for both beginners and experienced players.
Staff are great and the driving range and practice greens are perfect for a warm up. The pubs briliant too, just one complaint is the amount of dog walkers and school children walking on the course, very annoying as a dog stole my ball after I'd hit a great drive but 100% worth playing.
Great Muni
Played Alty today with a couple of work colleagues. In pretty decent condition considering some of the clientele! Group that tee’d off before us all had jeans and t-shirts on. I’m no golf snob, but jeans, really!
Anyway, the course..... greens as usual very good. Not the quickest you’ll play on and the recent rains slowed them down further, but rolled very true. A credit to the greens staff who I’m sure have a thankless task trying to keep pitchmarks to a minimum.
Solid 7/10 all round
Excellent municipal course
Well worth a visit. Excellent municipal course , superb value for money. Course in excellent condition, greens ran very true.
On site Marston's pub very handy for 19th hole, cheap beer on a Monday (£2.35 a pint).
Good value on hot deals
My rookie year as a golfer... challenging course without being off putting.. 3/4 challenging holes .... especially the 15th. Friendly staff , good greens. I always play midweek afternoon as these times there's not many players around. It is a course run by Trafford council.... therefore it's a public walkway with several dog walkers at any given time... unfortunately that can have its drawbacks.... but taking everything into account it's a must try especially if you get a hot deal price ranging from £8 . I shall be going back.
Course was in good condition even after poor weather previously in the week. Altrincham can suffer from poor drainage in the winter months but am happy to report is was in great condition today.
Sunny and perfect conditions for golf.
Staff was friendly on arrival at the pro shop.
Course was in very good condition. Greens and fairways had been freshly cut. Holes had been painted (inside of the cup)
There was a ladies captain day teeing off just after us.
This might explain all the conditions being very good.
This is probably the best I've seen Altrincham golf course in a while.
Fully enjoyable round, sun shining bright and shot a respectable 84 so I'm a happy chap!
Good course in good condition
If you want to play a good council course and not pay loads, then this is a great course. I paid £9 including the booking fee. Good pace, greens in good condition.
Steve
Course was in good condition nice greens not too long had a mid morning tee off on a Sunday very busy 10 minute wait on first tee chatted to 2 members very friendly managed 12 holes in 4 hrs and walked off if you play try and make it midweek
Decent
Ive only just taken up golf this was the 1st time i played 18 holes. The holes are enjoyable, not clear on the map the 1st hole has a stream at the back of the green so beaware for that. A lot of testing par fours, couple of 5's and 3's. Ground staff were cuttig the grass but stopped for you to play your shots when around the fringes and on the greens, which helped and was appreciated. Hacked my round in 114 but will defo becoming back, friendly course, enjoyable and i can see it being the course of my first sub 100 round (hopefully)
Fancied a quick one
You get what you pay for...
Great course for the price.
Half in very good condition other half not in bad condition.
Great staff and friendly people.
I recommend for a quick or spontaneous knock.
Overall good golf club.
Good transitional course
Am learning the game and need a course to transition from the longer course at Adlington and this course is ideal as it provides longer holes and faster greens so is a really good challenge and step up. Great value for money considering it is only a few pounds more than Adlington and is a full 18.
Pleasing and Enjoyable Course
Looking for a local club to join so popped to play 18. Despite all the hot weather we have had the greens were in top condition and held the ball very well. Nice layout and atmosphere and although not too challenging there are some interesting holes. . Having said that I shot well under my handicap which was a great feeling and I will definitely be back again. If you are a big hitter there are plenty of holes that you will be best with an iron off the tee for placement. Staff I met were fantastic too.
Excellent Municipal Course
Forgiving parkland course kept in excellent condition with true greens. Some interesting holes, in particular the par 3 13th and par 5 15th. Excellent value for money
Great long course for beginners
I am someone who plays a lot at the longer par 3 at Adlington and for me as someone who is learning the game and wants a step up from the long par 3 course at Adlington this is a great course. Challenging enough to keep you interested but not so easy that you get bored. We played off Winter tees which shortened the course, which was helpful for me as I'm not the biggest hitter so it will be great to play the full length in the spring when hopefully after some more practice I can hit further.
Ok
Course was on winter greens which some positions didn’t make any sense(on top of a mound next to a path) but the greens looked in great condition and will be lovely in summer. Surprised by the amount of dog poo on the course and people walking around with their dogs. Not something experienced before on a golf course. I was about to tee off on the 17th when a couple appeared from the left and I had to stop. They just walked down the path without so much as a wave to say thanks. Wouldn’t play again in winter and hopefully they clear the dog mess up before summer and stop them being allowed on the course.
Challenging course for beginners
I play a lot at Adlington where the graduate par 3 course is challenging with some tough par 3's of 200+ yards. This is a good step up from that with some good length par 3's and some shorter par 4's. Playing off the red tees may be a good idea if it's your first time and you're a beginner as that helps with the distance.
Ok for the price
Altrincham is a nice course. Well laid out and pretty good condition. But..... Facilities are woeful, finding the "clubhouse" yeah good luck. I have played here before and it's all changed since then . The course has reverted to its original layout, no bad thing. The staff in the pro shop , I say staff, one guy could not have been less interested. Ok it's a municipal course and at £10 a pop I guess you get what you pay for, and at that it is adequate. Overly busy, too many allowed on quick succession, most of whom were hackers out for a jolly up. Teenagers tearing about in buggies that sort of thing. Lot of debris around the course too ; beer bottles food wrappers.
Doubt I'd go back to be honest.
Good course but eat off-site
Played our society fixture here in July after cancelling our March date as course flooded. Lost our food deposit at on-site pub, as unable to give them enough notice.
Course in great nick, staff very friendly - day won by high 20's handicapper, so course is very forgiving!
Tip: Eat at carvery just down road, as can ring numbers in on day and no need for deposits.
