Llanymynech GC
A great course with a very varied range of holes and an incredibly hilly terrain. I played on a Monday which is the only day the clubhouse doesn’t open which was a shame but other than all was good. I will definitely be going back next time we’re staying nearby.
Excellent course
The course was in excellent condition. Fantastic views from all of the tees and greens.
Fantastic Golf
An amazing ramble with two styles of course in one. First 9 feels like an enclosed woodland course and then the back 9 is an exposed hike with some stunning views with 12th having panoramic views of the county. A mix of classic par 3’s and 4’s with a couple of drivable par 4’s ( for the big hitters ) and some stunning tee shots. Not an easy course but every hole feels calculated and very enjoyable.
Course was in amazing condition, freshly cut with classy stripes everywhere.
Some interesting cross overs which did cause I few bottlenecks but that’s really the only slight to this stunning course.
Practice area is a little sketchy as the area plays through the 18th and a small chance of a bump on the head from a wayward tee shot but still great condition.
The only real black mark is the food. It was terrible. The “ large breakfast “ wasn’t good value for money and wasn’t cooked properly. Staff made us feel we were an inconvenience and in the way. Would strongly advise eating at the pub before you get there if you want a breakfast before you play.
Pro in the shop was great and really helpful.
All in all will definitely play there again but give the restaurant a miss
Interesting, hilly point to point course in a pleasant setting
As aging 60+ golfers - we found the course challenging in a strong wind. The tees were often elevated with a valley between the tees and frequently elevated greens. The par 5 ninth was a bit of a monster into the wind - but a tap in birdie at the short par 4 eighth helped the cause. I believe Ian Woosnam played much of his early golf here and at nearby Oswestry so we felt we were walking in some famous golfing shoes. Friendly pro and the bar staff were helpful and courteous. An average course in good condition and we felt our green fee was just about right.
Great course in a stunning location
The course was in a great condition but the location is stunning, the views from some of the tees was spectacular. The novelty of teeing off in England and putting in Wales just added to the enjoyment The course is fairly hilly so if you're not physically fit then a buggy might be a good option.
Fantastic
Considering I can't rely on getting onto my own course at the moment due to ongoing wet weather visited this course having not been here for some 15-20 years was rewarded with a course in fabulous condition for time of year and friendly staff and other members will not be so long before I return
Great fun course
We played on a clear day following a very wet spell. Two holes were closed but that was understandavle as much of the area around the valley floor was under water. So we played the 2nd and 9th twice. This didnt detract from a great day on a fun but challenging course. Tees, greens and fairways all in very good condition. Good welcome in shop and club even on a quiet day in December. I will certainly return. Thanks.
Unreal Views
Very good condition, unique course, with amazing views
Excellent
Just super, we are still talking about it now - 10-15 memorable holes and the views are 360. Only gripe is there could be some next tee arrows but the members were friendly to point us in the right direction.
Overall excellent value and definitely worth a visit, we will be back
Gem of a Course
Situated high on the hills bordering Wales and England, Llanymynech is a gem of a course. Every hole offers something different. The course was in good condition and the views are amazing. If that isn't enough, the staff and the locals are very friendly. Thoroughly recommend it, and will definitely be back.
Great course, friendly welcome the views were spectacular. Members where helpful telling us where the next tees where etc.
Frustrated Visitor
On arrival we were not told holes 13/14were closed so after spending what must have been 10 mins searching for tee box on the 13 to no avail then playing off the fairway only to find no flag or hole then having a similar experience on 14 then to find we caught up with the group who had previously let us through at the 15 th we were pretty fed up. On going to the pro shop to ask why we not told about 13/14 we got the lame answer that it comes up as a pop up on the booking system when we booked …which was patently untrue on Golf Now … rant over … other than that the course is well worth a visit with spectacular holes and views … and greens in great Nick too
