Great layout needs work
The review below seems overly harsh to me, Berrington is a pretty good layout, a little imbalanced in the sense the front 9 is much tighter than the back, you can't smoke driver off every tee, the first 4 holes has a pat 3 and the other 3 really do need a bit of position over length. It does open up later on and I can imagine how off the whites and the new tees this could be a real test. That said, some of the tee areas need work and for sure a lot of the greens have been damaged, personally I would implore the club to spend money on the best head green keeper they can find not on new teeing areas, get the course right that will bring in more money, THEN reinvest. Better a good short course than a poor long one. After that its general tidiness for me, some whispy grass in the fairways and so on. This course has so much potential. I play because its literally 5 mins from home and a super modest price, no disrespect meant but if you want a championship course go pay £60 a head minimum.
4 ball regular players handicaps 7 to 18
We played this course on the hottest day of the year so far !! played it last year and it was in great condition then sorry to say it was not this time the greens where the worst i have played in 35 years of playing golf, thinking about it we should have asked for a refund !! it was that poor do not play this course until they sort out the greens 11
Stay away
What an utter shame. This course could be a real gem with someone who cares. Tee boxes unkept and rough. Fairways are the best thing about the course and as for the greens ( or sand pit ). Awful condition areas atriums green barron and in loved. Trying to putt on the so called greens be better with a sand wedge rough is an understatement.
Save your money during these times and play elsewhere.
Golf now need to look at themselves and ask how they can stop genuine users being led astray by shoddy goof course managers.
Would give 0 stars if it was an option ...... you have been warned
Much Improved Course
I have played this course often over the last few years and it just keeps improving, although on the day we played several of the greens where not at their best.
Nice course
First time to play here and really enjoyed it to be honest, can’t wait to play it again when the weather is a bit better, I can imagine playing off the yellow and white tees will make it a much different course.
Nice butty to start the day, very friendly people, I will be back soon
Great round!!!!
Course was in fantastic shape only downside was all holes were temporary greens but fairways were really good!!! Looking forward to going back again someday soon
Good course
Well kept course considering weather we've had lately. Some great looking holes with big well maintained greens. Can't fault it for the price either £14. Definitely be back
Great course
Really enjoyed this course was in great condition considering all the rain we’ve had.Greens were immaculate. Some great holes and lovely Par 3’s will definitely be back to play again all winter and summer
It was sodden
Would love to play this course again, but not till it's dried out.it was like a bog but we have had a lot of rain.it was well signposted for the next tee and the greens were fast.
Good challenge for mid handicappers
Reasonable course, but slowish from the first tee. Some tricky holes and course knowledge is invaluable. Fairways and greens in reasonable condition, but the rough is very thick. Definitely need to keep it on the fairway for a reasonable score. Some good water challenges on a number of the holes.
Great day of golf
Great round of golf today with my nephew who played here for the first time. Nice and steady round with no hold ups or problems. Very enjoyable day and we will be booking again very soon. Loved it all. Bit disappointed not to get a buggy though but not the clubs fault. Thank you Berrington Hall.
Fantastic day of golf
Brilliant day of golf course in fantastic condition members we spoke to very polite will definitely play again.
So much potential but tatty.
Tees and greens uncut with bunkers unraked. Not a green keeper in sight all day. Friendly staff and members and enjoyed the day but the course and facilities need investment which if it ever happened could transform this place. So much potential . A real shame
Tricky first 9
Long and difficult, Fairways not cut, off fairway over punishing. all overgrown. Shame could be good.
Berrington Hall
Enjoyable round of golf , course was very quiet. Good mixture of holes, nice par 3s. Need some sand in them bunkers though.
Save me!
I've played this course about 4 or 5 times over the last couple of years, the condition is improving but as yet not to a high standard.
The layout of the course is nothing short of spectacular and really challenging. It will be a great pity but without a large investment it will probably close, so if you get the chance play this lovely course while you can.
Enjoyable & Course in good condition
Although the white & yellow tees are closed for winter the golf course still provided a good challenge. The drainage is very good on most holes so plugging & mud wasn't a problem. The greens were in good condition.
Very friendly welcome & the bacon barms are great!!!
Just one thing the local roadworks can cause delays so give yourself plenty of time to get to the course.
A Much Improved Course
Played this course yesterday and was amazed how dry it was after several days of heavy rain. I have played this course frequently over the last 2 years and it is improving all the time.
Last minute booking
Booked course on the 16th staff friendly informed us of repairs being carried out on course. Course in great condition seeing weather has been wet over the past week totally enjoyed the round of golf would recommend.
