Cobblestone Golf Course

VERY SLOW (almost 4 1/2 hrs) due to group in front of us. At one point, the slow group was in the fairway with our (and another group) on the T box waiting. Marshalls were out but did nothing

Wonderful welcome from staff members in the pro shop and on the tee. Beautiful golf course .. only wish would be better tee conditions. Fairways and greens really great. Best I’ve seen in a long time on a public access course.

1 time visit to the area to watch Blue Jays and visit friends in north Atlanta.

Views are outstanding.

Course is exceptional.

Only negative was they just sanded the greens - necessary evil of the business.

Par 3 16th is top tier.

18th is spectacular.

Play this course at all cost if in the area.

Today, 1 day after playing Cobblestone, we are in Birmingham, Alabama playing Oxmoor, part of RTJ golf trail - what a massive disappointment after playing Cobblestone!

Course is typically ‘cart path only’ if there has been any amount of rain within two weeks of your tee time.

Cobblestone is a picturesque course with some good challenging holes for all levels of players. I don’t believe it gets too crowded and overplayed which is why it’s one of the better muni courses in the SE.

First time playing here, weekday morning. We had groups in front of us and behind us, and we were about 10 mins slow on expected pace due to poor access between the carts and the parking lot and bag drop. Normally no problem that kind of thing happens and we play ready golf. However, the rangers kept harassing us to speed up every 3 or so holes. We felt singled out as we had men and women so we used two tee boxes each hole which cost some time. A ranger asked us to pick up and go to the next tee where we were immediately waiting behind a group with three carts for the rest of our round. I understand efficiency is needed but obviously we weren’t the only ‘slow’ group. The course setup and conditions were great but unless you know the ranger don’t expect them to be at all flexible with how strictly they enforce pace if you don’t look like a group of seasoned golfers. We won’t be returning.

A ball from the group on #2 hit the cart path and

hit a playing partner in the forehead.

No one in my 4-some heard a warning “FORE”.

Fortunately we had ice and put it on his head immediately.

The rest of the round was tense as we were waiting on the group in front of us.

Due to sod being laid to repair areas on the there were a lot of cart path holes only. Should have had reduced rates for this condition.

Greens were recently punched, but got a credit on the greens fee which was nice. Don’t see that everywhere. Course is fun and pretty tough for me (20 handicap). Setting on the lake is about as pretty as you will see i. the Acworth area.

The fairways were undergoing substantial changes and were dug up in many spots. Tee boxes were in bad shape. Greens had not recovered well from being aerated.

Nice and challenging course. Tough playing a course where you can get unlucky hitting the fairway, many uneven lies. And I was told the rough was longer than usual. You could be two feet off the fairway and the ball would sink into the long Bermuda grass which can cause a longer look for your ball than normal. Happy with my score for the first time playing, but if I was struggling I would have been a grumpy old man (like Walter Mathau and Jack Lemon.) Also, for some reason the starter paired 3 singles and a twosome together (The group I was playing with. That didn’t make much sense and was kind of annoying.) But a really nice course and beautiful scenery. 3.8 out of 5 stars. For my rating context, Lake Lanier is 3.6 and Echelon Golf Club is a 4.3

Great course layout and beautiful views. I love the tree lined fairways and challenging course. The problem is pace of play. It's a busy place but there is no one keeping players on pace. Tee times every ten minutes get groups backed up. Too many people playing the wrong tees get it backed up as well. Poor green conditions unfortunately keep such a great layout from being a great course.

We had a foursome on a Saturday morning, and pace of play was quite good. Several rangers out and visible, one even told us unsolicited that the group in front was about 10-15 mins behind so he had already talked to them. But they didn't hold us up any more than a couple minutes here and there. I think we played in about 4:20. Conditions were much better than the average metro Atlanta course, especially in this price range. Course is a challenge, very tight, and you will lose balls you didn’t think could be lost, so watch the ball down as long as you can. Only thing I wish they had was yardages on the cart gps. It gave you a hole map but that’s it no yardages at all, seems like a waste of the tech.
