Cobblestone Golf Course

Greens were recently punched, but got a credit on the greens fee which was nice. Don’t see that everywhere. Course is fun and pretty tough for me (20 handicap). Setting on the lake is about as pretty as you will see i. the Acworth area.

The fairways were undergoing substantial changes and were dug up in many spots. Tee boxes were in bad shape. Greens had not recovered well from being aerated.

Nice and challenging course. Tough playing a course where you can get unlucky hitting the fairway, many uneven lies. And I was told the rough was longer than usual. You could be two feet off the fairway and the ball would sink into the long Bermuda grass which can cause a longer look for your ball than normal. Happy with my score for the first time playing, but if I was struggling I would have been a grumpy old man (like Walter Mathau and Jack Lemon.) Also, for some reason the starter paired 3 singles and a twosome together (The group I was playing with. That didn’t make much sense and was kind of annoying.) But a really nice course and beautiful scenery. 3.8 out of 5 stars. For my rating context, Lake Lanier is 3.6 and Echelon Golf Club is a 4.3

Great course layout and beautiful views. I love the tree lined fairways and challenging course. The problem is pace of play. It's a busy place but there is no one keeping players on pace. Tee times every ten minutes get groups backed up. Too many people playing the wrong tees get it backed up as well. Poor green conditions unfortunately keep such a great layout from being a great course.

We had a foursome on a Saturday morning, and pace of play was quite good. Several rangers out and visible, one even told us unsolicited that the group in front was about 10-15 mins behind so he had already talked to them. But they didn't hold us up any more than a couple minutes here and there. I think we played in about 4:20. Conditions were much better than the average metro Atlanta course, especially in this price range. Course is a challenge, very tight, and you will lose balls you didn’t think could be lost, so watch the ball down as long as you can. Only thing I wish they had was yardages on the cart gps. It gave you a hole map but that’s it no yardages at all, seems like a waste of the tech.

I have played Cobblestone probably 200+ times over the years. Used to play there every Saturday for several years. It’s always been one of my favorite layouts in the greater Atlanta area. The course has always gone through its ups and downs. In more recent years, it’s been in solid shape. But I was very disappointed to see the shape it’s in today. The Bermuda greens used to be fantastic. Now they are mediocre at best. The bunkers have always been in rough shape, but they all look like they haven’t been raked by the staff or a player in months. Lots of burned out areas around the course. Number six fairway has a huge patch that has no grass. And then there’s the pace of play. Has never been lightning fast on a Sunday afternoon, but it was a 5+ hour round today. In 95 degree heat that is no bueno. Cobblestone is and always will be one of my favorite courses on the north side of Atlanta, but I am not going to rush to come back to play it while it’s in this poor condition. This place has to be raking it in with the amount of play it gets. Cobb county is clearly using that income elsewhere. May be time for a new superintendent too.

This course has everything to be elite, but year in and year out, they underperformed. Greens have more sand than the beach, and they always will. Haven't seen these Greens in good shape on 15 years. Don't waste your money. The ball bounces like a pinball machine, so you can never get a true read.

Had another great experience at Cobblestone this week . Overall the course was in great shape from tee to green. Had a friend from Charlotte in for the week and he loved the layout and views from the golf course . Play was steady and we finished just over 4 hours. Only improvement could have been the greens which were remarkably in good shape for the amount of daily play however grass was a a bit ‘long’ this slower ball speed when putting . I suspect that the hot weather and amount of play has required the greens keeper to keep the grass length longer as we are approaching the first real hot spell of the season.

Would recommend Cobblestone as a course to consider on your next round of golf

One of the better courses in north Georgia. The greens had been aerated and top dressed so the putting was slow, but to maintain a great course such aeration is necessary.

Great course in really good shape except greens were hairy as all get out! Fairways were beautiful. It’s a really challenging course with a ton of bunkers and water. A beginner will be demoralized playing this course. Greens have great potential as they are all undulating. Pin placement was challenging and fun!
