Lone Tree Golf Course
About
Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

The course conditions and pace was a joke. A bad joke.
I have golfed here countless times but this day was different. Now granted Ca. has been getting blasted with rain for awhile but i have gotten in some decent rounds at the neighboring courses and they were draining properly. This time, there had been a couple days without rain and it was still very sloppy. There was cart path designation and my twosome was following a 5some. and another 5some and I even saw a 6some(Behind us). The fairways were unkempt and long. I lost atleast 5 balls that were in the fairway. Being that nobody could drive their carts around and the balls were not spotted easily while driving down the path, it made for a very very long round. Every hole was backed up and we were playing at 20 minutes a hole. After 3 hours, 9 holes and a few lost balls that i gave up looking for- i had had enough. Needless to say i wont be playing here anymore until i hear that the course is in better shape. It was in such poor shape i had to wonder if it was going out of business and they were not dishing any money into it while they collect the last few bucks. But it is a muni course and as far as i know the city isnt broke. It sure did seem that way.
Great pace & play in the mud
With the recent rain storms over the last few weeks the course was in good conditions, but there were areas where it didn't drain or there was no drainage at all so it was just really muddy. This probably could've been avoided in a lot of areas if the grass was cut to allow for sun to dry out the mud. With that said I will still come back and play again the course is really open and the pace was great in front.
Fun Course, but...
This is my second time playing here in two years. Both times the greens were not in great shape. If they can get the greens together, i would definitely play here more often.
New Year's Eve
Most of the greens are patched together, looks like a sewn together quilt. The young man behind the counter was great, his customer service skills were great
Good muni layout. They torched greens by aerating late and they froze. Results are half dead greens with huge swaths of replacement sod. Staff replies with they'll be sweet by April or may. Guess their tired of explaining why this nice solid course is now junk. Too bad. 30 years of playing never been this bad.
Love lone tree but...
Been playing lone tree for many years and Lways enjoy my many rounds played. A top golfing facility, friendly staff, great food nice course lay out but the greens have been terrible of late.Fix the greens and lone tree is a solid 4 star facility
Golf Course General Review
Lone Tree GC gets worst each time I play it. Space markings for parking - almost none. Greens are sandy and having "psoriasis" issues (patchy). Their green fee went up When Roddy Ranch GC closed out. It needs attention. It's my home course. Please do something about it. This is where my kids learned how to play golf.
Nice location
The location and scenery is nice. The greens were in poor shape, but maintenance was observed. Other than the condition of the greens, I really enjoyed playing here with my family.
Always a Good Day
Always a Good Day and GolfNow.com is great and Lone Tree Front Desk is Friendly and accommodating.
Norman
stay away until greens better
The greens were arated the beginning of November. Still not ready and there is something wrong with the grass. They have dug out some bad parts of green leaving big recesed patches. Maybe by spring it will get better. If the price is low and you want to practice and not count putting, go have fun. the rest of the course is good. Just a heads up 11-28-16
Announce that a tournament is scheduled to customers booking
Pace of play was slow due to a tournament. It would be good if this fact was broadcasted prior or during booking. Club house staff was not very friendly.
Bad Maintenance
The bad condition did not seem to result from lack of water, but definitely poor maintenance. My shoes were caked with mud, but the course was either bone dry, overgrown from non mowing, or muddy. The course looked like a third rate muni. Lone tree uwsed to be a nice course, not anymore. I wonder who would want to hold an event like a wedding there? We will not be back.
First time
This is my first time playing at this course. I was pleasantly surprised with the challenges on this course. The wind created even more challenges that made me think and use strategy on several shots. The course was in great condition. I would definitely play this course again my next time in town.
Loud SLOOOOOOW Play-Hot Deal
I guess this round would been all right If we teed off earlier. We took the Hot Deal, so it was packed, which was fine. However 4 groups in front of us there was a 5 some, with a large cooler on the last cart-Boom Box whaling away, needless to say extremely loud, slow play.
If we go again we will not choose the hot deal pricing
Lone Tree Golf Course
Course is in good condition. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
I brought a friend who had not played there in years and he enjoyed his round as I did mine.
Slow Greens
The greens were never quick. All of the greens were at the same speed. SLOW. Which is fine, if you are used to putting like that. It wasn't only me that felt that. THe others in our foursome remarked in a similar way. All in all, there is heavy grain and you have to read it correctly. I'll never forget a putt I had DOWNHILL, about 25 feet that I thought I had struck well, but it stopped about 10 feet short! Anyway, you have to make adjustments. The next time I go back on Sunday, I will bring my mallet head putter. That should help.
Fun Course
Enjoyed the round. Course is like most in the area...average condition. Over-watered in some areas, uncut in others. Greens in decent shape.
Nice course
Hit off at 7 and were done by 10:15. Great pace by the twosome and threesome in front of course. This is a fine challenging course. The front 9 is mostly undulating hills and elevation changes in contrast to the back 9 that is mostly flat.
Greens and fairways were green, luscious and in good condition especially since it is in hotter Antioch.
Bad layout, poor condition
Confusing getting from hole to hole. Several, what appeared to be, temporary greens. Many places with thick bouncy crabgrass that you could pinch with your lingers and raise up off the underlying dirt like a thick, matted, carpet. Hard to hit an iron when misfortune found your ball lying on it. The staff were professional and nice. The facilities were great. The course's layout and condition left much to be desired.
