Lone Tree Golf Course
About
Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

first round
My first round since double knee replacement surgery. We took our time and enjoyed the great course. The greens and fairways were in excellent shape. We played with a couple of "First Tee" kids. They were very polite and knowledgeable. We allowed a few groups to play through and we had a great day.
Great course conditions
Golf course in great shape.
Greens in great shape and rlling nicely, fairways green and well cared for.
Nice
Pleasantly surprised. Will be happy to play here again if the price is right.
Mature
Great course with plenty of trees, in really good shape.
With all these brown is the new green links style tracks it's refreshing to play a mature parkland style course. Weather had been raining but got to humid and muggy. Thanks
Good Value
Course was in decent shape. Fairways were nice and the rough was good length. First time playing the course liked the layout. Greens were really slow and long compared to what I'm used to playing. For $10 can't really complain about pace of play. Hope the greens are in better shape when I come back
Challenging
This course looks very playable but only if you hit the fairways. Fairways are very far from the tees. Not a good course for short hitters.
Avoid
Course is overrated, it is not in that great of shape other than the greens. The fairways look and feel like someones front lawn. The worst part of Lone Tree is the rate of play and cost for what you get, it took me over 5 hours to play as a single with no help from the staff and the price is not even close for the experience this course can offer, avoid it and go play somewhere else.
Great Course
Great course for great price
Friendly staff......................................................................
Lonetree
Very slow play, more than 5 hours for a twosome. Followed a very rude group and when we asked about a Marshall to manage the speed,of,play we told to do it ourselves. Poor staff and no control on the course.
The course uses recycled water so it looks good. Fast greens, but very bumpy after last months aeriation. Overall the course is nice, just bad fortune to have spent a very long day following very rude people and no support from the course management.
very nice course and i call this my home course
I always love to play at this course, I love the rolling fairways and nice fast greens. Great food and drinks too.
Quick pace of play, conditions were good considering the drought
Came out to play 18 holes for $20, couldn't pass that deal up!!! Went in the late afternoon so the course was wide open. Conditions were way better than expected considering the drought that we are in.. Will continue to play here every Sunday from now on!!!
Course was not in bad shape
Lone tree was great. Pace of play slow but staff was nice as usual and greens were good. Need marshals on a Sunday of course to ensure at the most a 4 1/2 hour round.
Nice layout
The greens were bumpy and had been plugged a few weeks ago. The greens were also inconsistent . They might be alright in a few weeks. The rough is tough. Looks like they water the rough more then the fairways. They seem to have their own water source. The drought may not be an issue for this course.
Nice facility overall. I plan to play here again.
No senior rate on Friday.
Interesting course
Lone Tree is a decent course. It gets a lot of play and each hole is different with no two alike. This makes it fairly interesting and is not boring like some of the flat courses out in the Central Valley.
The course is in fairly good condition considering the drought restrictions now in force. The fairways are a bit rough in spots but the greens are all in good condition. It's pretty obvious where they are using their water allotment to keep the greens as good as possible.
On caveat - play in the mornings. The wind tends to come up in the late morning/early afternoon.
This is a good course for beginner to intermediate golfers.
Great Course
Very challenging...excellent condition...would definitely go thru Golfnow as they quoted me
A price almost $15 higher if I booked directly with the course.
Russ
Good municipal course. The greens were in very good shape and the fairways and traps were also pretty good. Not much imagination in the course design. With the exception of a couple of holes the course is pretty straight with some up and down hills. Booked it on Golf now for $21 which is a fair price for this course. I wouldn't pay the standard rates they are asking. If you are looking for a good lunch, the food is fantastic and reasonably priced and the service was very good. Highly recommend the restaurant and give the course a neutral recommendation.
What An Awesome View
Besides the awesome views at Lone Tree GC, the diversity of the terrain makes it so enjoyable, keeps it fresh and fun!!!
nice course
disappointed GPS on cart not working
traps were wet
