Lone Tree Golf Course
About
Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

Great course in good shape.
Great course with some challenging holes. All staff was friendly and helpful and I would recommend this course to all levels of play.
Great value
I would strongly recommend this course to my friends and family it's a great place to play, the staff knowledgeable and kind.
Greens?
Always liked Lone Tree, however some type of discount should be offered when the greens have been top dressed recently. At least let perspective players know when it was done. Will wait awhile before I go back, then see what kind of shape the greens are in.
plugged greens
But for the plugged greens, this is a Great municipal course. Nice variety in layout and maturity.
Beautiful and just challenging enough.
The course was very nice and in excellent condition. It's fairly short so length isn't an issue and on most holes there was plenty of space to miss but accuracy is definitely rewarded. The elevation changes were the most challenging aspect and club selection was crucial. I'm about a 13 handicap and shot an 87. Very fun course. I'll be back.
Seeing the effect of little raib
Lone Tree golf course is a classic track with moderate hills and difficulty in the good times.
With less rain this winter, the fairways are in a variety of conditions and they are keeping the greens as best they can
Sand in bunkers us spotty
The less than 4 hour pace of play may well be worth the price
Good course on a hot deal
Good value on a hot deal, greens were a bit slow hole number 2 was just patched or 1/2 seeded and was impossible to putt on due to changing grass types new to old. I have played here several times, and it's a challenging course on the front 9 the back 9 is pretty much wide open.
Disease???
Though most of the Greens were in excellent condition, there were lots of browned and under watered fair ways - especially on the back 9. It appears that much of this part of the course had not been water regularly or has some kind of disease. This is probably the worst I have seen it in over 10 years
real windy day but course was in good shape
Carts were allowed off path and most of the area had been mowed recently. The wind was a steady 12 mph with gust much higher so playing conditions were not the best but still an enjoyable day. Temperatures were in the low 50's so you had to bundle up, but the sun was out.
Not ready for playing.
The place should have been close. The fairways are so muddy that balls just bury itself in it. Fairways 2nd cut grass are 3 to 5 inches long. They can not cut them cause the their machines will sink on the mud.
Great Course, Friendly Employees, Good Food
This is a challenging course in fair weather but does not drain well. So be prepared for standing water and muddy conditions during rainy season. Expect 'cart path only' regulations. It can be a real challenge to locate your ball as it will likely plug and will certainly slow your speed of play. Got wet and muddy, but after a shower, change of clothes, and a warm meal all was well. Had a good time!
Greens In Excellent Condition
The course was in good condition even after lots of rain. The greens were slow but in great condition, other then the #2 hole which is in a temporary location. I would recommend playing this course.
The Tee time schedule was not organized.
Green was not in good condition, and we only finished 14 holes due to delayed Tee time and a five-speed in front of us.
Way too slow
I know it was the day after Thanksgiving but still, 9 holes in 3 hours was not acceptable. Tee times every 8 minutes, the course was in very poor shape, greens had bad spots on them and were not constantly the same type of roll, It would have been nice if we were advised of a temporary green on the 2nd hole, more like a patch of fairway with a coffee can sized hole. Fairways torn up, bunkers in disrepair. Lone Tree is usually in good shape but not the case yesterday.. Will not return for a while.
Nice course
Greens and fairway in good shape , very friendly staff, overall great day of golf thank you
Had a couple interesting holes
This is like a typical muni course, does have a couple interesting holes with slight elevation changes but mostly flat. The greens were in good condition, fairways ok with some being dug up by boars by my visual.Temporary green on a couple holes.the first nine more interesting then the last nine but if you get a deal through golf now its still a cheap course and fun to play.
Lone Tree
Great course for the money that we paid. Tough but fun. I love the elevated greens. Very challenging.
Course was fun
Lone Tree was a nice course which had some difficult blind shots along with easy straight forward holes. I would come back again. Staff was great and very accomodating.
Would have liked to seen a marshall to keep the pace of play flowing. Group ahead was a hole and half behind the group ahead.
