Lone Tree Golf Course
About
Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

Good But Could Be Better
Course was good for the Hot Deal we received at $20 per player, would'nt play for the listed $53.
Back 9 is in much better shape than the front nine for sure especially the greens that were primarily sand on front 9.
Nice area and views.
Good bar and grill.
Well maintained golf course
I'd play this course again. GPS on golf carts are a surprise extra.
NIce but too slow
We were the first group behind a high school girls' tournament. Why didn't they start us on the back nine? When we were waiting to tee off at the 3rd hole we heard a report from one of the tournament officials that the back nine was not crowded and some of the girls' coaches were playing over there. That was news that made us say "What? Why didn't we get to start there?" At the end of the 3rd hole I checked my watch. Hmmmm, one full hour to play 3 holes. 5 hours plus to play 18 holes. But the course is in good shape and fun to play. I still like this course, but they could have easily made my pace of play better with a little common sense forethought.
Won't Make This Mistake Again
I'm at 12 hdcp and play one a month. Buddies convinced me to make the drive. Bad call...Greens were in horrible condition. Had 7:07am tee time great pace of play until staff put players from tournament that started well after we teed off on the 1st and 10th tees!! Turned the corner and had long waits on every hole from 11 to 18. I definitely won't be back.
Beautiful day, beautiful course, great golf.
Nice facility. The elevated tee boxes make this a great course to play. What a pleasure to be abl3e to see the green from the tee boxes on most of the holes. Lovely terrain and very well kept greens.
yes there is a drought but but your killing the greens
Shocked to see such poor condition of the greens. burnt out in some places and for the most part, bordering completer loss. If your cutting back on water use due to drought protect your greens and water tee boxes less. Very disappointed. Not sure I want to make the hour drive trip again if this is what the condition of the greens are going to be.
Better to play than not
We played for $9 at 6:10 pm. Only got a few holes in before dark. Greens are awful! Grandama always said "you get what you pay for". So true!
great greens and super nice staff
always greeted with a smile and positive conversation. greens were saturated with a fungus that they were able to get rid of quickly. now the greens are back to lush green and moderate speed. they are usually super accurate and true. Players are great. I love the lighted range and all the trees on the course. There is a breeze (or wind) usually by late morning. I took company to play there and they loved it. The patio is the place to be afterwards! Great appys. too.
fun and challenging course
This was a fun course to play, but I got stuck behind two really slow groups that wouldn't let me play through. By the 11th hole I was so tired of waiting that I had to skip 12 and 13 to get ahead of them.
Course has a great location
There is a few hard course for a beginner but over all the club and the course is very nice .
13th hole being repaired
Course good condition considering drought. Greens need to be better kept. 13th green being repaired. Get ready to chip to the hole.
Restaurant is excellent!!!
Good course for price
Love the new samsung tablets! Feel like green fees could be slightly cheaper on weekends but still a great bargain.
A nice morning
Course played good, minor issues here and there, all in all good shape. Last time I played the course was 1987, I've always enjoyed the layout, pleased with the improvements. I will put this course in my monthly rotation.
needs greener greens
I know it is drought here in California but I believe that the greens are so neglected. Patches of green and brown like a coumouflags pattern. So difficult to read more so to putt.
Greens are not in good shape
Fun course to play. Course is usually in good shape but have seen conditions get worse over the past month. Not sure if draught is the cause but the greens are in horrible condition.
Like the course
The course has a nice variety of challenges and scenery. Though I like it a lot it isn't in the kind of condition it has been. Some of the greens and fairways aren't in good condition.
Greens in horrible shape
We play this course often - because of the price. This was one of the worst times I've played it. A few of the greens were passable, but most of the greens were in horrible shape. Also, the fairways had a lot of hardpan, right in the middle of the fairway. it appears that their watering system is broken. Most of the fairways were dry, but then in some places, under the trees, it was actually wet and soggy - with casual water.
Great weather, greens poor.
The weather was excellent for an early morning tee time, went out on time as a twosome and from there things went really slow as there was a twosome in front of us and a foursome in front of them so it was wait, wait, wait. The general conditions of the course was fair but the greens were in dire need of repair as there was what looked like a bad case of fungal damage. Fairways were in better shape.
I really enjoy this course
Great course to play as a beginner or intermediate player. Great amenities and cant beat the price.
