Lone Tree Golf Course
About
Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

Typical
Lone Tree is at this point a fairly good course. It benefitted from the recent rains as the fairways and the rough and even the sorrounding hills are still very green. Playing mostly in East and Central Contra Costa, I know that pretty soon browning will be evident, including on some greens. The pace was somewhat slow although I was in a 3-some and behind a 4-some.
Slow play
Like most courses, a few very slow groups can impact your round. Course marshals are either not available, or are afraid to confront offenders. Yesterday, one foursome had five groups backed on the two holes behind them for the entire back nine.
best value
course allows you to play a variety of shots nice condition, good food after round
Good condition
Started slow, but pace picked up. Greens were a little rough, some bad patches, but overall the course is in shape than other times I have played it.
Aerated greens
Course is in good shape but greens are shaggy and sandy fro recent aeration
Greens are still recovering from aeration.
I golf here almost every Friday. Great value, course well maintained, and staff is very friendly.
Nice Day at Lone Tree
Played with a nineteen year man good company had a great time. greens are mending from being punched over course was in good shape
US open conditions!! It's anything but a fairway when you lose balls down the middle..
Plugged greens, very slow and bouncy. Putting was not much fun but the greens will be great in a week or so. Still old layout. Nice upgrades to buildings.
Slow Pace of Play
I wrote the same thing on Yelp. The only good thing was the cheap price from Golf Now. Sloow play on a week day and not a course marshall in sight. Had to wait at every hole and when we made the turn two groups in front of us waiting to tee off, we left after nine and won't be back any time soon. In addition, greens had been punched recently and no mention of this on any web sites including Golf Now or the course itself. Too many options out there to experience both slow play, no management of the speed of play and lack of disclosure on aeration.
Lone Tree
Was a little disappointed. It was lightly raining early in the morning so I called the course to see if they were open and if the course was playable. The person said it was a little windy but dry and playable. What he forgot to mention was the greens had just been punched and sanded. Just a small detail!! Otherwise the course was OK!
Unfortunately Aerated greens
It is hard to give a course a great review when you play it with aerated greens. That being said, Lone Tree is a nice course with moderately difficult holes. There are numerous elevated greens so you have to elevate your approach shots. I would recommend this course. Make sure greens are not aerated.
Lonetree
Needs some TLC on the course , but it was a nice course
Getting better
The cost to play lonetree is about $10 too high. But finally the greens are getting a little better!! This coarse went along time with slow bumpy greens.
I loved the 9th hole but watch out for sand trap in the back
My partner and I were matched up with another twosome... They were great guys and wonderful golfers.
We started on the 10 the hole and end on the 9th which is my favorite since I parred it.
This is a friendly golf course and it is in great condition. Very nice greens.
This course is really pretty this time of the year all the hills are turning green...
This time of year with water problems this course had good greens
Always liked this course, and my mind has not changed. Very interesting and a lot of fun. Dry fairways which are to be expected but not a problem. Very friendly staff and great breakfast.
Great Course
Great course, the staff, food, facilities and service were beyond excellent!!!
Great Pace Great Course
The staff is very friendly, the tee boxes and fairways are nicely maintained, and the greens are fair. This course is a nice secret and good course to play when you are in the area.
Shouldn't walk this
We got stuck behind a mixed group of riders and walkers that hit from the tips. Why? Their pace was slow and refuses to allow u to play thru, no Marshall when you needed one.
Great course.
Recommend this for everyone. It gives you a way to play Hills on one side and it's pretty flat on the other side quite fun to do
