Lone Tree Golf Course
About
Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

Wait til spring!
I've been playing this couse for more than 20 yrs. This is the worse I have ever seen the greens. Did they try to punch them... I really don't know what they are thinking this time of year. It looks like they are about to lose the #2 green. Save your money and go somewhere else... At least til spring time.
Good value and in very good shape.
My only negative is the dismissive attitude from the woman working the counter. As my luck would have it, this day was the third time I played Lone Tree and it is the third time I get her to service me and my friends at the front counter. We stood in line, in front of the register that she was using to service the last customer, then moves to the other register and she just points as if directing a member of her family or a dog. Her Lack of acknowledgement as we stand there waiting for her to do whatever she is doing and the lack of a friendly "can I help you" or something just makes it even less tolerable when she, without looking, points with a finger to us and then points to the register she is now using. This action on her part did not go unnoticed by me or by my two other golf partners. Her dismissive actions are always the same, unnecessary and always unwelcome.
Good playable course
Very well maintained and very friendly staff, all around good day.
A Great Track for the Price
Had a blast!! Played OK. Course layout fun. Liked the variety of different looks. Greens tough to read and pretty quick. Deceptively challenging. Staf was terrific and food at turn was just right. Saw a lady eating some kind of awesome Mexican salad. Will take her three days to finish. Looked awesome.
This course has good features
People on the course are friendly and let you slide ahead. LTGC does a good job of maintaining it. Some areas need some TLC but which courses don't these days... Enjoyable scenery. Some holes are challenging which make it a lot of fun. The majority of holes really let you swing!
this course has undulated greens and can be tricky
This course is fair and the staff is friendly. The only caveat is that some of the fairways require maintenance and there are multiple bald spots that may impact play. The bunkers however were in excellent condition. The greens have the potential to be some of the best around if given more attention.
Good course that rewards above average driver distance
The course was nice and in good shape. There are multiple holes that will reward people that can drive 280 or more which will set you up with a good second shot. Although the pace was slow on the front 9 and there were no marshals to keep up the pace.
Good club house, hilly course with friendly staff.
it was a couples tournament day so it is hard to comment on how fast the course actually plays (there was a group of 10 people 6-7 holes in front of us who we caught up with on hole 16 and by the looks of things other golf groups between just moved away from them rather than playing through).
The facilities were nice and the staff were very friendly, I would come back again and play on this hilly moderately challenging course.
this course is very forgiving for new golfers like myself.
I really enjoyed playing there. The course was great and the clubhouse and bar were great. Myself and my wife are going to become members real soon.
nice course for the money
Course play was a little slow with some players hitting into others! Players need to to have some respect for players who are not as fast as others! All in all a great day of golf!
good value
Fairways and bunkers are in good shape. The greens were bumpy and inconsistent. Overall a good round if golf.
Wild coyote will join you in your round!
This is a very challenging course as it relies on accurate ball placement. The blind fairways gives you added challenge. There were also some coyotes that were observing the painfully slow pace of play the weekend that I played. Players were also not repairing their ball marks.
Needs some up keep
I'm a novice golfer so take this with a grain of salt. The course layout looks great. The tee boxes were nice and level. The fairways are forgiving, only lost like 3 balls. The greens however were in major disrepair. Getting a put to travel a straight line was near impossible. I was paired with a couple that frequented the course and they mentioned that the course is in between maintenance supervisors. Overall, I played here for $25 including cart and I'd say its well worth that. If they get the greens back in order, its an easy $50 course, but i wouldn't pay more than that.
I love this course
This is my home course, I love playing it. They keep it well maintained and pace of play is good.
dishoinest
I have played LTGC many times. Its an easy muni course with a dangerous layout that puts you in harms way from bad golfers who populate the course. This is probably the last time. My issue is with courses that lure you out with a discounted tee time,,,and then when you show up...you see the tee box is three 4-somes deep with a scramble going off immediately before your tee time. We made the turn in a little less than 3 hours...unacceptable for a muni on a week day. The course is just a money grab that doesn't care about the golfer experience.
Golf Now should have a box that indicates if the tee-time is following a group event...like an outside tournament...Mens club scramble...women golf day, etc....just like they do for aeration and other golf course conditions.
nice muni with some really interesting holes
best value in the east bay. nice course, good pace of play and some really nice holes
I have always enjoyed playing this course
The course is moderately challenging. There are some easy holes and some difficult ones. A nice mix so you don't get frustrated with difficulty on every hole.
The fairways are nice, but some of the greens are in poor shape. The front desk woman is not friendly in the least. The snack bar is inadequate.
a good test of the game
some good holes if you can hit it straight, definitely worth a days play !
Lone Tree Golf Course is a winner!
The coarse is well maintained with fast greens/fairways. Some holes can be challenging for a novice like me, but I didn't find them too difficult. Staff and people very friendly and polite.
Do not honor internet customer
I booked through golfnow.com. I was there like 30 min. earlier and nobody was on the tee box . I asked one staff if I can tee off earlier since the 1st hole is empty and no one was waiting but my team. However, the staff said he can't let us do that since I paid less money than other players (internet price). I had to wait 30 min. and nobody came in untill that time.
