Lone Tree Golf Course
About
Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

always a great time
course was in good shape, greens were a little rough. great pace of play and personnel were exceptional
Greens roll fast. not worth $50+ but $34 was worth it.
course was in nice condition, grounds crew in the way all day greens rolled pretty fast. not worth $50+ but $34 was worth it.
This used to be better maintained.
The greens are in very poor condition. The fairways are good but there are dead spots around the greens and bunkers. This used to be one of the best bargains and better conditioned coursed in the east bay but they now seem to be focused more on weddings and banquets than golf. Maybe they should build houses and parking lots on the course and just have social functions at the "event center".
Bad Greens
some of the greens are in need of repair . Diseased maybe ?
Not the norm for Lone tree - usually one of my favorite places to play . Thank goodness we were on at such a good discount or it would have been comparable to Pine meadows experience as far as the greens are concerned.
Desk people please smile - be courteous and act like you like your job in " CUSTOMER SERVICE "
We are happy to hand you our money - you should be happy to take it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Value
Wonderful course, maintained perfectly for a muni. Fairways are perfect
Poor Shape
I was very disappointed in the course. I've played here several times but maybe it is just the time of the year, not sure! The greens and tee boxes are a mess! A good value for the money but if you're particular about course conditions, you may want to check with the Pro shop and ask about the restoration process on the greens!
18 holes on 9 hole space
This place seemed to try and use every inch of land. There a number of tee boxes right next to greens, and at least one next to a common miss hit area. A slight slice on an approach shot can hit someone teeing off. My playing partner hit the back of the 18th tee box. When we were at the 18th I heard one thud behind me and then a second ball came rolling up between the blue tees.
Tee box conditions seems okay but heavily abused. Some of them seemed a little sloped. The fairways were good and the bunkers were actually not compacted. Not fluffy but not like cement. And what little bit of rough there was still was short enough to not cause problems. Be careful because, while looking for my partner's ball in the rough, you can easily pop up right in front of someone teeing off.
The greens were strangly fast even though there was a bit of rain. It seemed like they may have just aerated them a month ago because there were still small dots of grass in a grid pattern on a few greens. The ones that did seem fully grown out were still bumpy, and not so much from divots. Some had dead spots that were still healing.
I would consider coming back in a month or so to let some of the greens grow out. It would also have to be a weekday when there is little traffic on the course. And it would also probably have to be a Hot Deal to get the price where I am willing to pay. I'm hoping there might be some protective nets up around some of those tee boxes if I do.
Steady pace, course & greens need attention.
We played as a twosome on Memorial Day behind 4
foursomes, pace was slow but steady, windy.
The course was in need of some attention, greens needed to
be mowed and rolled, lots of uneven spots.
Fair value for the money, not too bad for a public course.
Course design requires you to move the move right to left and left to right. Makes a fun day.
My wife, son, and I had a very nice time. Play was slow but for playing it the first time allowed us to take our time and look at the scorecard layout closer and watch the people in front of us for distance carry and line of flight. Ate lunch in the clubhouse and the food quantity and quality was very reasonaqble for the price of it.
Great Greens. HUGE Bunkers! Love it!
This is one of those courses that left an impression! And that impression was, COME BACK AND PLAY AGAIN! This course had it all. And for the GolfNow price, it was excellent. Will definitely play again.
Fun layout to play
Played on a Monday morning, weather was hot, course was in great shape from tees to greens. Only slight for the day was a slow fivesome infront of us.
Course plays really nice
This course plays nice. It's well Maintained and challenging. The weather was fabulous and all four in the group had a good time.
challenge for average golfer
Not easy; not difficult. Has some interesting (somewhat difficult) holes. The fairways are well maintained and pretty easy to negotiate; not overly challenging, The greens are very well maintained and depending on pin placement some are challenging. The rough is kept clean so you can find your ball with minimal searching. Views of the surrounding area are spectacular. The food is very good. The pricing is reasonable.
Overall I would recommend this course, and do so regularly.
Switch and Bait - cancelled GolfNow Reservation
I cannot recommend this course on GolfNow.
I use GolfNow when I travel to screen and book golf outings.
We had a confirmed reservation and planned our travel around this location as a stop over. The morning of our game we received an email-mail canceling our reservation. I called the course and they booked a new tee time - at exactly the same time at twice the price. I raised this and they rudely replied that I should call GolfNow.
We did not cancel as we were afraid they would charge our credit card anyways.
This is especially disturbing as golfers call fouls on themselves and you have a Golf course plying switch and bait with already agreed to arrangements.
I cannot, from an ethics perspective recommend this course to any GolfNow member. Principles not money!
great for any player
Well maintained course and great for all level of player. Fairly short tho some blue tees play much longer than whites. Rolling terrain on the front 9 with stronger wind, back 9 is more flat and shorter. ALways a great time with a GN rate!
Course was in great shape and worth the price.
The course was in great shape and the price is reasonable.
Fair ways
Green are ok fairways need attention i played this course in past course was in good condition now i can not that about it.
Course is in very good shape and the staff is friendly.
Course is in very good shape. The greens were fast that required close attention to each putt.
My Favorite course in East County.
Well maintained, well managed and fun to play. Plus, the food and beverage are convenient and good. Great practice area and putting green. All in all, a very satisfying experience.
