Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

Nice, old style course. Great to play late in p.m. Slow during prime time.

Fair , classic public course in reasonably good condition. Lots of high handicappers make play pretty slow during prime time.

Enjoyable, not extremely difficult

We were not able to play last Sunday, raining, but I booked it again for this Sunday. Pro shop staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The pricing is in line with the course, don't overcharge like other courses it the area. Always fun and kept in good condition.

Course has some interesting holes. Lunch was great!!!

Each of the front and back nine start with one of its most difficult holes on the course. Some interesting holes with many different approach shots, elevated greens, all carry and run up shots. Long and short par 4's, 2 that are reachable for some. All together enjoyable course. Lunch is great!!!!!!!

Great municipal course

I love this course! I grew up in Antioch and playing Lone Tree so I might be a little biased.

This course has all the great features of a top quality course. Elevated tee boxes, elevated greens, sweeping par 5s, drivable 4s, long and short 3s, some water, forced carries that setup well for a second shot. This course is a pleasure to play.

The only downside is that this course gets a ton of play, so it can get backed up and with so many rounds it's tough on the maintenance.

In the 30 years I've been playing here, the course has steadily improved and for the money it's unbeatable. Ask anyone who has lived in the area for any length of time and they will tell you Lone Tree is a great track.

Golf Now rate made it a good deal.

The course conditions were decent for just coming out of the winter. The greens were in good shape except for maybe one. The pace of play was a little slow as they had a local club tournament and they took their sweet time and were holding up the pace.

Frost at Lone Tree

Arrived at 7:30 for a tee time of 8:24. I was told that there would be a frost delay of 30 min. I thought I will warm up. Delay was almost an hour. Play was good, the green were in good shape. The fairways were soft due to the rain the night before. I had a great time on the course. Cold morning, but it is December.

Grip It and Rip It, Then Really Focus

I've played this course many times over the years and it is a regular in my rotation of courses. It's not drop dead gorgeous. The conditions aren't pristine. Pace of play is certainly slower than I like. But what keeps me coming back is that the price is very fair. The conditions are always decent. Finally, I can't seem to ever beat up on this course like I think I can. When you play this course, you see fairways that are generally pretty wide and easy to hit. So you think to yourself, "Hm, very little trouble off of the tee, I'm going to kill this course." But that just never happens. Bogeys and doubles just keep sneaking into my score card, and by the end of the round I'm always disappointed in my score. But while there is virtually no water on the course, length is not an issue with the exception of maybe 2 holes, and fairways are pretty generous, hitting greens and making putts are deceptively tricky. The reason is that nearly all greens are elevated and many are blind from your approach, so picking the correct club is tough. Also, many of them tend to be wide but very shallow, so if your not dead on your distance, you're in trouble. Finally break in the greens tends to vary. Speed is usually consistent, but some of the putts will break way more than you thought while others leave you wonder how it didn't break more. All and all, I really enjoy playing here. Wish the pace of play was better, but fair prices, decent conditions, and a solid golf challenge always leave me wanting more.

Have always liked course.

Interesting holes, well laid out. Greens challenging but fair.
And Love the practice facilities, ie, choice of mats or natural ground hitting areas.
Overall: Great experience.

PS I couldn't get the sliders to slide.

The course is actually great for beginners like me.

I have to remind myself not to golf here after a few days of rain. The course was soft and muddy. We were not allowed to drive the carts onto any part of the course (Cart path only). And, the greens were lumpy and uneven.

I actually golfed with two members, who are on the board of directors, and they were not too happy with the conditions of the course and greens.

Overall, I believe once things dries up, and they give the course and greens the attention it needs, I would definitely come back.

This course has undulating greens...

Although we opted to play from white tees as first timers here, it more than makes up for distance with challenging greens... you'll be trying to avoid 3-putts on some holes. Slope factors in on this course... although there are some flat holes as well.

Rained the two days before I played course was in great condition. no standing water

Paid $14 for Cart and18 holes great price. Always enjoy the front nine 3 par 5s. Front nine was slow as there were two groups of older gentlemen playing only nine holes. No complaint as I took the time to be thankful for what I have and hopeful that I will be able to play golf when I get to be older than 70yrs. Still got all 18 in in 4 and half hours.

Great practice facility

East Bay Area is loaded! This is a good compact course with awesome practice play available. Nice practice bunker (hard to find), practice greens and plenty of space at the range.

Course played a little easier than I though it would and not much OB which will save you a little on golf balls (allows you to hit your good ones). Staff was very friendly. Very nice Pro Shop and Restaurant/Bar as well.

Fun course. Great price.

Although the course played well it was slowed by a senior tournament.
The clubhouse is beautiful and has great views of the course. It has a great staff in the bar and the tres tacos at happy hour was a great deal and yummy

A suburban gem

It was great weather, folk were friendly, course in good shape and we kept moving. Also, saw the cart girl on several occasions - all in all a very good day.
