Lone Tree Golf Course
About
Lone Tree Golf & Event Center sits at the base of Mount Diablo State Park, tumbling across rolling hills that provide panoramic views of the scenic San Juaquin River Delta region. It is one of the most popular golf courses among local Bay Area golfers. The name of the course is misleading since the beautiful landscape is covered with mature forests filled with a variety of indigenous trees including majestic Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pines. These towering treetops make navigating the course pretty tricky. Accuracy is essential as is precise shot placement. The trees border the rolling fairways and there are bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. In 1990, Lone Tree's greens were completely redone except for those on the 12th and 15th, which are the two smallest on the golf course.

Always a great place to play
One of the better golf courses this side of the bay. Great value and enjoyable course. The greens were very fast and maybe the recent heat wave turned the course brown. Get it close to the hole or be a great putter because even the slowest putt ran 2-3 ft past the hole.
A Good Course for all skill levels.
If you have some high handicappers in the foursome this is an expecially good course, you can move them up to the white tee's and everybody will have a good time.
good condition
The course conditions were good, but play was a little slow and the woman in the pro shop was very rude and coarse because 2 of our players arrived only 10 min. before our tee time. Not good to arrive that late, but were only on deck, not on the tee. No reason to be snippy with pre-paid customers.
Great condition-beautiful scenery
A great course for novice to intermediate golfers and no real water hazards.
They have the rough cut pretty short right now-easy outs.
good foods good price.
will come back & play again...soon. nice golf course, green and fairway keeped very nice.
interesting layout
late winter, it was a little scruffy. played like an interesting muni course. the reviews i read said "pristine", and because of that i was a little dissapointed. the greens were so hard and fast that pitch shots were challenging to impossible...i will, however be back to get even.
Good solid enjoyable course. A little slow.
I liked the course. Very playable. Good condition. No starter, and the counter wasn't keeping up with both jobs. Finally got us out altho they were way backed up. Front 9 slow, but finished before dark in about 4.5 hrs., and met some good affable local players. I'll be back.
Very Pleased
I know the Pro there, Ron. He has always been very friendly also Rick in the Pro Shop mentioned how busy he was however that did not prevent him from being super friendly. I live in Brentwood, but I had played the twilight last week. The course was in such great condition that I decided to play again yesterday. It was worth it. The course was crowded but we flowed through our round with minimal delay. Good job Lone Tree!
This is a an awsome course for the money
The course is set up great for all skills of golfers. The front nine is challenging with hills and blind shots while the back nine is flatter with ellivated tee boxes. coming in on 18 is a newly built club house on the hill so you can watch other golfers coming in.All in all a big A+.
Only one complaint...
I play this course often and I really like it. However they tend to stack the groups at times and you end up waiting on every hole. I have played a 2.5 hour round to a 5.5 hour round.
Lone Tree has the friendliest staff in east county
Always love Lone Tree!! Conditions are getting better and better.
The rough was very tall and thick.
It seemed as if they were cutting the rough for the first time this year. Fairways were in great condition.
Challenging front nine and the back nine gives you back some confidence.
The staff is part of the A-Team. Can't say enough!
coarse kept up nice
i love the coarse challenges, Greens kept up very nice. Only thing i did not care for was that I booked a latter tee time cause i only had a 3some cause i did not want to get stuck with 4th . not only did i get stuck with 4th but a 5th i could not believe it . tried to fix mess up but needless to say golfed with 5 super long round not fun at all. booked on golf now set for three got five not happy with coarse management when was told that would not be given 4th player
There are better values in better condition out there.
We hadn't played here before and the Golfnow deal gave us an opportunity. The lady behind the desk was a little like your Mom. No nonsense and Mom is always right. Our tee time was at 7 and there was a line out the door to check in. She was cordial but not pleasant. Could have used some help. At the turn the snack bar person was not speedy which always makes for a rushed 10th hole. The course was in decent shape. The greens were very nice and fast. Which I really like. Lots of sloping and undulations on most greens. Hard to see some of them on approach shots. A couple caught us off guard and left very long first putts. I bet it can be pretty dry in the summer. Reminded me of Franklin Canyon.
One of my regular golf courses
Lone Tree Golf Course provides good value, nice quiet scenery, and sufficient challenges. I've seen my play get better on this course over the years.
This course is very challenging.
This is the first time I've played Lone Tree. The condition of the course was okay but the greens were in great shape. The pace of play was good especially for a Saturday. The course is very challenging even though it isn't very long. A lot of the greens are uphill which provides an additional challenge given the greens are small. I would definitely recommend this course especially if you book on GolfNow. I was able to get a tee time for $39 with a cart.
Great value and well kept!
Enjoy the course and find myself wanting to return after each round.
Mixed bag
I had never played Lone Tree and decided to check it out. Got a great price on GolfNow. I was put in a somewhat irritable mood even before teeing off as I was told by the pro shop woman that they had just sent out a tournament right in front of us, and that we'd "be lucky" to get out at our scheduled tee time. Great, thank you. As it turns out they had sent out groups of six. Yep, sixsomes! There was one group of six just a few holes in front of us and I was informed by another golfer that they had sent out 3 sixsomes. Who does this?
We did actually get out on time but the pace of play was slow. Amazingly though we plodded through, were able to play speed golf on the back 9, and finished in 4.5 hours, at the last remnants of light.
The course itself is challenging, with lots of rolling fairways, elevation changes, and uphill approach shots to very firm, small greens. It's hard to hold your approach shots on the greens. There are some pretty holes and it's walkable if you're a regular hardy walker like myself. There are brown patches here and there but overall the maintenance is good.
Also, don't worry at all about the published dress code. At least half of the people playing were wearing jeans. I wish I had known that ahead of time, I might not have "dressed up".
Overall I don't know that I'd recommend this course, due to the disrespect of the staff sending out groups of six ahead of us. Apparently they want to make the tournament group happy but don't mind angering the clientele behind them.
Good for the price
I have played this course before and have always enjoyed it. If your expecting a prestine Country Club or Resort course than this is not for you. But for $25 to $30 dollars I would say it's worth it. It can be slow play at times but nothing real bad. Some holes can be challenging but for the most part it's pretty starightforward. The greens are a little inconsistent in that some are slow while others are fast. Overall it is a fun course and won't disappoint.
