Brentwood Golf Club - Creekside/Hillside Course

5.5 hours and no where to go. Creek and hills course no Marshalls behind a 5 some hacking their way across the course. Greens were good. Winter fairways. Love the course layout actually one of the best in the area. Wish they had a better greens keeper who could manage the course and optimize water usage.

Five years the course was much better conditions. The tees really had not grass growing. Dead brown spots in the fairway. The course sand traps have not been rakes

But the course is fully booked every day. A great deal of play. The money does not appear to be going to course upkeep

I've played this course at least 30 times and it has gotten progressively worse. The fairways are terrible and the traps have been in poor shape for the past 2 years or longer. The greens are ok. I was disappointed the past 3 or 4 times I played this course. Unfortunately, Brentwood used to be a golfing mecca, but with the closing of 3 great courses, things have slipped drastically.

Hasn't rained in several week and yet the course is very muddy. Seems to be over watered in several areas of course. Played last month and still very muddy.

I have played Brentwood a number of times over the years since they opened. The course always provided challenges with its narrow fairways and approaches to the greens. However, time has not been kind to the course (and the lack of watering, care, and packing in the tee times). With the closure of Roddy Ranch, Deer Ridge, and Shadow Lakes, it was expected that Brentwood Golf Course would step up with the extra amount of play and make their course pristine. Unfortunately, this is not the case and the moment I stepped onto the course after two years of being away, I felt like I was playing in a pasture that was mowed. Amidst the barren spots, my group was continually having to move our ball to small patches of grass that were sparse. The course should have notified all golfers that the entire course was to be considered as "ground under repair." Outside of the course maintenance, the pace of play was terrible. We teed off at 12:20 and managed to play 13 holes. Not only was the course stacked up, no marshall was out to maintain the pace of play. Now, there is COVID, drought, economy...and I understand all of this, but there should be a level of pride, upkeep, and shared information. I hope Brentwood is able to make some changes.

Course isn’t in great condition though the greens are generally good. Tees are torn up and today the women’s tees were rarely on a tee box - they were usually just in front and not in a good position. Lots of over wet areas and most were not marked as GUR. Pretty slow even though most people were driving on the fairway though it was clearly marked to stay off.

I decided to play this course because we are thinking of relocating to this area. This is the only public course open in Brentwood so if I relocate here this would be the course I would play on a regular basis. Let’s just say I was very disappointed that this is all this area offers when it come to public golf courses. I understand Brentwood used to have 2 other courses that closed in the last 2 years. I feel sorry for residents that bought homes on these courses and avid golfers in this area. Brentwood Golf Club has so much potential to be a nice course. Below is a list of problems I noticed while playing the course -

1. All fairways are in really bad shape, more dirt/mud than grass

2. Ponds have major toxic algae

3. Bunkers are dirt with rocks and no sand

4. There is 1 dilapidated un kept out house on the course for all 18 holes

5. The course layout is you start at the 1st hole by the clubhouse and finish at the 18th hole back at the clubhouse so you better pack extra food and drinks because you can’t get any at the turn

6. No food/beverage cart out on the course which would help with the above.... maybe that’s why they have only 1 outhouse on the course

In conclusion I currently live in Dublin, Ca. There are many quality well maintained courses in this area, I feel spoiled. Not to sure if I want to relocate to the Brentwood area now and I definitely won’t play this course again until the management makes some major changes.

Sad to say the course is in need of serious work. Others note that and the course says they are working on it. Need extreme amount of reseeding the fairways and roughs and not water so much to create mud on what grass there is. Sad the driving range is closed. This once was a pristine course for all 3 nines. Feel sorry for the summerset residents who have seen Thai go down hill but sad for all of brentwood to also have deer ridge a d shadow lakes be closed

The course was a great price, but it’s not marked very well and it was water logged and muddy everywhere. It’s rained 3 times in the last month guys, cool it on the sprinklers and save some money for signs and markers.

I will start with the bad, the fairways are in such bad condition, but I see they are seeding all over and in a month or so they will be great. But do you need to water so much? And now end with the good, the greens are amazing!! In perfect condition, now to get the rest of the course up to speed. But had a great time with my son so all in all “A great day!”

Just like most courses I’ve played recently a lot of dry dead spots on and around the fairways. The greens weren’t bad though. Sadly they were enforcing cart paths only since they are trying to seed to course and there was no mention of that while booking my tee time.

This is the worst course I have ever played, the only thing good about the course was the greens. There was no grass on the fairways it was only mud/dirt. It was a good course but I will never play here again unless they do some serious repairs.

The course is in horrible condition. I was not informed that carts on all holes are cart path only.

Not going back to this course anytime soon.

This course is in the worst condition of any I've ever played. The fairways are muddy and torn up. The only thing good are the greens.

Less then 4 hrs to play. Fairways have been ground up and lots of seed in the ground. Cart path only. Good to see the course getting some attention but can not recommend at this time.

Ten years ago this course was very good. It had been declining, but looks like someone is finally trying to get it back in shape. It is being worked on, clearing the rough, aerating the fairways, recently aerated greens, some tee boxes re-sodded. Finally, replacing some old carts that was long overdue.

Someone needs to let the maintenance crew NOT to overwater ! There is a LOT of mud even late in the day.
