Plenty of water, just not going on the fairways. Most bunkers were very muddy. Several had standing water in them at noon on a day when it was 86 degrees. Photo submitted by danstone360 on 07/25/2015

Teeboxes were a joke in nearly all cases. Photo submitted by danstone360 on 07/25/2015

Fairways were awful. Not because of the drought. This course has reclaimed water and it was very muddy in many places. Seems like their grounds crew is off for 2015. Photo submitted by danstone360 on 07/25/2015

better this time
great for golf....wide open and finished round in less than 3 hours.....course in better shape after recent rains....staff always good and accommodating
Course needs work
Course is under major renovation. This course was a beautiful course 15 years ago but has gone downhill.
Brentwood Dump
This course was once a few years ago a very well kept great place to play. Not any more 2 holes has been completely removed and appear to we an overgrown waste area which were once a long challenging par 3,and 5 afterward. both are gone. Another hole par 4 has been reduced to a par 3 permanently as well. Fairway's dotted with holes by ground squirrels, sand traps with mostly clay dirt, little sand. Course is in bad shape, greens in spots are in bad shape or fertilizer burned. Do waste your money or time playing there unless u are desperate. What a sad place to play now.
Greatly improved
After not golfing here for quite a long time because of poor course conditions, I was very pleasantly surprised how nice the course was looking during my last visit. The fairways were decent and greens well-kept. Also noticed that some trees had been trimmed. I most enjoyed the Creekside nine. The new misconfiguration of Hillside 9 is silly and i'm nostalgic about how nice it used to be. I look forward to the completion of the cart barn now under construction and cleanup of the proper entrance to the Pro shop. I remain optimistic about the future success of this lovely course.
Last day
It was too terrible to play this golf cours yesterday after noon. .
I don't want to say in detail to public but make me sad....
Poor public course
The course is a nice layout. At one time it was probably a very nice course, but it’s had its day, and is going downhill.
Now it’s past is hidden behind poor conditions, especially sand traps, and overall landscaping. Lots of weeds, mud, unfinished areas with equipment around, and cracked cart paths.
Holding out hope
Personally the Brentwood Golf course with the original creekside and Hill side was one of the best layouts in all of contra Costa. Recently it seems the owner has decided to remove hole 8 on the creekside and modified holes 9 creek and hole 5 hill (14 now) with par 3s. I was quite livid coming off of 7 as I have so much appreciation for the original design. Greens were good fairway was good traps slightly better than they have been these last 5 years. Right now to get people out you do get a beer with your round (supposedly get lunch during the week if prepaid) and they add simulators (didnt try as we arrived just about 20 before tee time: pregnant wife). I have hope that this place will get to where it deserves as it really is quite an amazing track.
Beautiful late October 18
I played on the last Saturday in October 24, I was shocked to find out that i was playing alone on a 75 degree day. I was told to head out when ready (20 minutes before tee time). I hit the putting green for 5 minutes before heading out to the #1 tee. I had the tee box to myself and no one else on the first hole, I teed off at 12:45 and landed in a trap 175 yards from the hole. The trap was raked perfectly, and I ended up with a sandy par. The green on the 2nd hole was vandalized in the past and open but still healing. I continued and was pleased with the wide-open fairways and the low number of leaves throughout the course. I did not catch the three some in front of me until the 7th hole and played the front nine in 1hour 45 minutes. The group in front of me allowed time to work on my game, putting, chipping etc before heading to the next hole. The back nine took 2hours 10 minutes for a 3hour 55 minute round.
This was my first time playing BGC so my review is based on that. The course was in good shape with winter conditions in a few wet areas and was very enjoyable for a 12 handicapper
extra charge
Have played many times at Brentwood, Enjoy the course, and staff, but this was my first time playing as a single
If you book with golf pass and you playing single there is an additional charge of $20.00.
