DeBell Golf Club
About
DeBell Golf Club in Burbank offers an 18-hole Regulation Course and a nine-hole disc golf course. The Regulation Course has a tight layout with narrow fairways and a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Accuracy is the key to doing well on this golf course but it's not overly punishing. Its risk-reward holes will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. The front nine is fairly challenging but the back nine is where the golf course gets tough. Although DeBell Golf Club is short, only 5,608 yards from the back tees, the blind shots and winding doglegs make it seem much longer than it is. There isn't any water on the golf course but you'll hardly miss its presence with all the other hazards that lurk throughout.

Repairing tee boxes
Would’ve been nice if golf now or the starter mentioned that the course tee boxes are being recovered or else i would’ve half spent my money here
Good course but should advise of ongoing course improvement
I really enjoyed the course - some challenging holes, some easier holes. Overall, it was a good experience - my only issue would be that the course that day played a par 68 (vs. 71) due to ongoing course improvements. Around 5 to 6 tee boxes were closed (if memory serves me well). This turned many holes into par 3s. The fairway was ok but not manicured.
Greens were very good in my opinion but, as with many public courses, few people would fix the pitch marks. Be better Sunday golfers.
Starter was a d!ck
6:40am tee time and the starter wanted to send us out at 6:25am. We were still waiting on our last person in our group of 4. Starter got sassy with us because we weren't ready yet. We were all walking the course with push carts and they sent nothing but groups of 3 in carts after us. Kept getting hit into and had the ranger tell us to pick up the pace multiple times. The course is hilly and walking it isn't easy. How about you don't stack tee times so close together? A lot of the tee boxes were relocated due to work being done so none of them were nicely level. Beautiful course but poorly managed. Again, starter was a d!ck.
Course undergoing repair
Paid full price for a course that is undergoing significant renovations. When making the reservation, there was no notice regarding any renovations. There were at least 8 tee boxes that were moved to a non-tee box area (uneven lies) and some were 50 yards ahead of the usual tees. This was my 3rd time here and the 2nd hole is always under construction
Tees under repair
Buyer beware: right now 5-6 tee boxes are under repair. Including thr signature blind par 3. Course has a good layout, fairways and rough were fine, greens good but beat up on fringes…but teeing up on 5-6 makeshift fairway tee boxes in not level or good conditions was a real buzzkill. Carts are old too: no ice chests or windshields.
The worst course in AMERICA
Played on Sunday and during check in they did not mention course conditions. Most to all tee-boxes were in construction and tee boxes weee moved into the roughest patches. Horrible and not worth a dime to play there. I’m a big believer in supporting local businesses but when you show up and pay full price for a trash course and they never mention course conditions then from management to the bottom of the totem pole everyone is shady. At least have the decency to mention the course condition! Horrible and I will never ever play at DeBell again! Disgusting how they think they can get away with such a horrible course!!! Lesson learned!!!
Construction holes
5 out of 18 holes are under construction. Disappointed.
Waste of time and money with current conditions
Wish we knew what we were getting into before booking here, wish the staff or other reviewers were more honest about the current conditions at DeBell. It used to be a tricky, little fun track for locals but it is barely worth your time and money right now. The first hole and 10th hole and tees are in fine shape, so it's deceiving, can't tell from near the clubhouse what you're getting yourself into. There's so much construction going on with tee boxes, most tees were bunched together way forward on uneven, un-grassy areas. Like even the signature "bell" par 3 hole ... it wasn't even worthy of needing to ring the bell since the tees were down near the same level of the green and just about 90 yards away. And with tees moved up, a few of the par 4's are more like reachable par 3's, which just makes the pace even worse as players try to reach the green (wait for the green to clear) instead of laying up. The bunkers were fine. The greens were mostly in terrible shape, and were not consistent - some with punch holes as if putting on a slow plinko game board, some with chunks taken out (like by wedges), some with sandy/dirt spots, and a few were okay. The very slow pace of play for such a short course just felt like rubbing salt in the wound. The only blessings were beautiful weather, friendly playing partners and there was a drink cart circulating so thank you to the person working that cart. Until they complete the construction and turn DeBell back into a well-maintained golf course instead of a goat track, I would not recommend playing here unless they reduce their green fees to an acceptable rate.
12 good holes, 6 holes that are garbage
Played DeBell again today. Holes 2, 3 and 4 (other than the greens) are in really poor shape. Hard dirt, spotty grass and just awful. The layout of those holes should be literally erased from the course. So bad. The rest of the course was in decent especially the back nine. Would say conditions on the back are around a solid 7 out of 10. The greens are stressing a little with the heat coupled with people not caring and not fixing ball marks. Overall, if you could blow up a few holes the course is fun.
A weekend warrior's course
Don't get me wrong DeBells layout keeps the course challenging and fun, BUT SOMEBODY PLEASE STOP OVERWATERING THE GREEN'S AND A SIMPLE NEEDLING SMALL PUNCH BY HAND OR MACHINE WOULD BENEFIT THOSE GREENS IN A TREMENDOUS WAY OFFERING THE PROPER PH BALANCE TO OCCUR AND BALL MARKS ABLE TO REPAIR WITHOUT TEARING APART NOT HAVING TO DEAL WITH WORN OUT SPOTS THAT AREN'T OUTLINED PROPERLY WITH A SIMPLE GROUND UNDER REPAIR WHITE MARKINGS OR INCORPORATING FRESH SOD TO FILL IN WORN SPOTS PROPERLY. THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO BE SHORT STAFFED BECAUSE OF ALL THE TEE BOXES NEED MUCH TLC THE ROUGH IS SERIOUSLY OVERGROWN BUT THE FAIRWAYS ARE LOOKING BETTER THAN BEFORE AND THE NEW BUNKERS AND SOME NEWER CART PATHS ARE NICE. HOPEFULLY ONE DAY THEY'LL ACTUALLY GET NEWER/USED GOLF CARTS IF ANYTHING GETS DONE BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT EVERYONE SEES FIRST AND WOULD HELP WITH THE OVERALL CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. I KNOW THESE THINGS TAKE TIME BUT PRETTY PLEASE W/NEW PROV1S ON TOP BUDGET THE $ MORE EFFECTIVELY AND THE END PRODUCTS RESULTS WILL PRODUCE TEN FOLDS FOR EVERYONE TO ENJOY AND HELP MAKE IT GREAT AGAIN IT HAS SUCH GREAT POTENTIAL. ☮️ AND ❤️
