Angeles National Golf Club is the only Nicklaus Design course in Los Angeles County. It is tucked away in the Angeles National Forest. This championship course is known for being one of the area's most challenging with tough greens that are lightning fast and more than 50 strategically placed bunkers. There are also two lakes and a creek that come into play. Golfers should be prepared for long par 4s and demanding carries over ravines and barrancas. Not only is it a golf course that requires length, you'll also need accuracy. Angeles National Golf Club finishes with a par 4 that plays from an elevated tee alongside the rushing creek that edges the left of the fairway and to the right of the landing area there's a deep bunker. To the right, the green is bordered by deep grass hollows and bunkers and there is a lake to the left.

Not coming back

Good lord. 200+ on a wknd round for 18; there is no starter, no marshall. Sunday play was insanely slow. Really really behind. I played two sundays in a row. One sunday am, 7:20am tee time, and the range wasnt open when I was there at 6:45. Not acceptable. Round ended up being 5 hrs; madness. Played the next Sunday. Same thing. when we finished the front 9, the back 9 was backed up with two groups waiting at hole 10. So, we ended up just replaying holes 1 - 9 because it was empty. Terrible. Not coming back.

Great customer service and very nice golf course.

Check- in was great! The entire staff at this course was so friendly. After I finished my round I was asked by 3 of the staff “Did you have a great time on the course”

I was blown away! Greens were amazing and rolled true! No complaints at all. I highly recommend playing this gem! I will definitely be back to play this course again.

Pace of play was abysmal

After checking GN to see how open it was for a Sunday afternoon round, it showed almost every tee time available. Got to the course, checked in and the clubhouse said it was wide open. Boy was that wrong. I was solo and by the 3rd hole I was stuck behind a few groups. By hole 6, there were 3-4 groups waiting on the tee box with a group in the fairway and another on the green. Needless to say, it was an awful round. No marshal out to speed things up either. For $200 twilight rate, we have to do better about managing pace on one of LAs nicest courses.

Other than the painful pace, the course was great. Really tough! Difficult greens. Awkward distances off the tee and pretty unforgiving. I’d like to say I’d be back, but I’m hesitant after this experience.

Nice layout with tight lies

I love the Jack Nicklaus layout at the bottom on the Angeles Mountains in Sunland. Do I think it’s worthy of the $200 green fees, no but pace of play is worth it for sure. I truly do love course design but fairways are cut tight and usually provide roll out and the greens are also usually hard and fast.

No starter or beverage cart. Extremely slow round

2 hours through 5 holes. Our tee time was delayed and overall took 5.5 hrs to complete 18 holes.

Highly recommend having a starter on the tee box, adding water coolers, and a beverage cart. Course conditions were nice but play was so slow made it extremely hard to get any rhythm. Waiting 10+ minutes every tee box and fairway

Deserves better reviews

This course is a tough layout! It’s super challenging and a lot of fun. I wouldn’t recommend it for novice or low intermediate golfers though. I think on weekends it gets backed up because so many people lose their balls and just aren’t experienced enough. The round took me 4 hours and 50 minutes which is a longer wait for mid week but still worth it. Beautiful backdrop and stunning course maintenance. Will def be coming back. Course is in really good shape right now

Interesting course - will enjoy play it again

The course is unique , and challenging - not long but still demanding.

The greens were in great condition, I found it difficult to read , just made it more interesting.

The course has a lot of limitations including one hole that you can’t use driver or woods , probably due to neighbors complains.

In overall it was pleasant and worth the cost.

1130am TT Barely Finished

Teed off on 10th and already 3 groups waiting on the tee. The problem with the pace of play is that most par 5s are short;and golfers with decent drives will go for the green. This contributes to the backup. Hole 11 is an automatic wait hole for being a short par 4. The front nine pace generally plays faster due to the layout. A Marshal on course at all times could help speed up play.

Played 12/30 at 1130a. Course is in great shape after the rains. Just wish it wasn’t an almost 6 hour! round of golf.

Nice, but slow

It’s a great course with conditions you would expect at the price point. Only complaint is the round took almost 6 hours with us waiting several minutes on every tee box. Found it difficult to find any sort of rhythm for my game due to the pace.

Unbelievably slow

This course was unbelievably slow. Upon showing up for an 11:12 AM tee time we were told that there was a 30 minute delay on the first period. We didn’t end up teeing off until 1142 and after five hours of play only made it to the 15th hole and had to leave before the end of the round. This is my second time playing this course now and I had the exact same experience. The first time I played and thought it might have been a one off, but apparently I was wrong. The course conditions were good and the few stuff that I saw were friendly but overall I don’t think any course is worth spending over six hours on for $180 per person

1150am. Did Not Finish

Course is in fantastic shape after the rains. And wonderful to hear the stream of water flowing as we teed off on 15&16. Otherwise VERY slow play. At one point there were Four groups on the 10th hole. Would help if there was a beverage cart going around since groups tend to order meal and beverage at the outdoor snack shop at the turn. Finished 17 in the dark. Always at the mercy of the groups in front unfortunately.
