El Prado Golf Courses - Butterfield Stage
About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Course I’m pretty good condition. Greens were punched in Butterfield already so no issues there. Good track for the price.
Decent mixed of long par 3s and tough par 4s
Decent mixed of long par 3s and tough par 4s. Greens were a little bumpy, were aerated about a month of ago. No sand in the bunkers just hard compact dirt.
Very nice
Butterfield Stage is a good layout, greens good, faurways mostly good, rough present, tees good, bunkers need improvement, range good, and pace of okay decent. Good value and you can walk for a reduced rate.
El Prado
Nice day on the course, golf course was nice and green.
Overwatering
In a perpetual drought this course is always overwatered. It had not rained in weeks and there are puddles and mud. Of course this means no run on your drives. Otherwise the course is ok. Some greens still show effects of being punched though.
Absolute worst golf experience
Showed up fir my team time and noticed they had a tournament going on. There was a line of 10 carts at tee bix number 1.
Did not play and prado ate my money. Will never return to this course.
Fun day
Very busy course on a Saturday afternoon. Our tee time was a few minutes late. We did wait on several holes but it wasn’t terrible. Bar cart gal was sweet and we saw her often. Greens were on the slow side but all said, it was a fun day.
8:25 Saturday Morning Tee Time > 5 Hour Round
We never saw a Marshall all day. Open holes in front of groups all day. For a Saturday morning, pace shouldn’t be 5 hours. Course is better than ever condition wise. Also greens were recovering from punch and nothing was mentioned when booking. Annoying but whatever.
Consistently Good
If you like playing in a course that is always playable and green, then this is for you. Always a good round. Many regulars play here for a reason. I like to walk. Great for walkers.
Birthday round
Booked two t times for the guys to celebrate my sons birthday. Had a great time, course was fun. Fairways in good condition, greens in good condition. Rough is really high and hard to find the ball even 5-10’ off fairways. 2 nd and third cut could use some work. All in all a really good value and will be back to play again.
Afternoon Pace of Play Blows
Play early in the morning to enjoy this course. Otherwise you will have a six hour round or longer. The Marshalls are nonexistent. No enforcement of the pace of play.
TeeOff delayed and very slow pace of players
Every shot whether we are on tee boxes or fairways or hitting to greens hanging on 1-5 minutes. It delayed 15 minutes on 1st hole TeeOff. We barely finished the 18 holes for 5 and 42 minutes.
