El Prado Golf Courses - Butterfield Stage

About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Took over 5 hours to finish
Pace of play was terrible bc 2 groups wanted to play together. They decided that it would be ok to play 8 players per hole for some reason. The marshal did nothing and the pace of play was slow. I will never play this course ever again! Beware, it definitely isn't worth what they charge!
Cart Died
Our cart started to die on 14 and we had to walk beside it (with club pushing the gas pedal) and help it by pushing until it completely died on 18. No one would answer the phone in the shop or bar/restaurant and when informing staff no on seemed concerned about us missing the last five holes or having to push the cart three holes. This is the second time this has happened, previously we were a foursome and used another cart to push. Just two of us this time...
Horrible course
This place either needs to be closed, remodeled, or have a major price cut for it to make sense
Overall...a good day
The fareways are drying out due to the hot weather, but overall the course was good. The pace was slow during the front 9, but was ok overall. The only real complaint is the condition of the men's restroom...they need someone to scrub those toilets and urinals...a swish and flush will not qork.
Staff
The counter staff Aaron is very friendly .will visit again.
Bad conditions
Butterfield burnt out, no sand in bunkers, greens ok.
Horrible
We were 9 course's in and we got hungry there was a food bar so we got some lunch ate it 20 minutes later we came back went to course 10 and this dude was a marshal who was very rude said your in the way of the junior golfing tournament which we weren’t so we asked where do we go and he laughed at us and said you need to get off the golf course but we got a 18 hole and we didn’t even get a refund so overall was a horrible experience
Good variety of holes.
Middle of fairway locations were fine but if not many areas were very ragged. I would still play this course again as the value for the money is good.
Butterfield Stage
I always enjoy playing this course! I enjoy the layout and the pace of play is always very good especially compared to Chino Creek! I would definitely recommend this course!
Good day of Golf
given pace of play, course conditions, staff, & amenities this a great course for a practice round.
actually two great courses for practice, driving range, food drink... great day!
