El Prado Golf Courses - Butterfield Stage

About
El Prado Golf Course boasts two different 18-hole courses: Butterfield Stage and Chino Creek. Early in California's statehood, stagecoaches would make the 2,700 mile trek from St. Louis to San Francisco. The property used to be a stop on this trail, which is where the Butterfield Stage Course gets its name. It's the shorter of the two courses at 6,568 yards from the back tees. The course is flatter and more forgiving than Chino Creek, but it still has a fair amount of challenges that will test your skills. The layout has generous fairways, but watch out for the strategically placed bunkers lurking along the large, gently undulating greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes as well. The wide open nature of the course can be forgiving but at the same time it will put your round at the mercy of the prevailing winds.

Course is ran down
Definitely not worth the money. Course is run down cart paths aren’t even cart paths. It’s old and dirty. I probably won’t be playing here again
Greens are sanded
The course was wet and soft, even though there had been very little rain. The greens are recovering but still very bumpy and slow. The course is usually ok so this is temporary
Slow Greens
Greens were really soft like a sponge. Everything else was as you would expect from a public course. The overnight rain didn't help with the conditions either though. I would definitely play here again. Better than others I've played.
No Aerating notifications
This course was poor condition and I only got a Twilight rate discount. Neither golf now or the course posted that these greens were recently aerated. The surrounding greens. Were rough and overgrown.
Caliber of people playing
Course is great and fun but when you play behind people that don’t have good golf etiquette or are horrible players it makes it difficult to enjoy the course. No Marshall around enforcing pace of play.
Good day
Track is in good shape. Some of the greens were less than perfect. I will come back.
Unacceptable course conditions
Most of this course is dirt, mud or rocks. The greens are slow and very bumpy. It’s the worst conditions I’ve ever played on. Don’t waste your money
Good value, but pace of play was an issue
Good value, but pace of play was an issue. Over 5 hours on a weekday rofl
Greens were soft from the recent rains, but the greens were nice and green
The pace was slow on the front nine, but seemed better on the back nine...an
enjoyable day..
Weekend Golfer
The course was a little wet not to be unexpected. The greens on some of the holes could use some TLC but again it did rain a couple of days before we played so not much time to cut the grass or greens.
