Good value
Very nice greens but right now a little slow nice bunkers. Very affordable in afternoon
Average Public Course - Slow weekend play
I've played Diablo Creek many times, but I must say, this was one of the slowest rounds I have ever played there. Granted it was a Saturday, we waited on every tee box and every shot. Usually it picks up after the first 4-5 holes, but this was not the case. The entire course was saturated with foursomes and I did not once see a marshal keeping pace of play. Made for a 5 3/4 hr round that everyone in my group couldn't wait to end.
The course itself was in decent shape, nothing spectacular. The layout can play long with the wind - it is for the most part grip-it and rip-it straight ahead holes. The back nine is narrower but still forgiving because all of the fairways are stacked next to each other. If you spray you might still have a shot from an adjacent fairway. Greens were somewhat inconsistent - some fast, some slow, some would break, others would not. No one in my group was making any putts, so combined with the slow play it made for a long, uneventful day.
Summary - This course can be fun if you play after work on a weekday during the summer - fly through 18 - but not on a Saturday when the year is winding down.
Greens were in great shape
The course was well maintained. Greens were in great shape. Course is completely flat but still presents enough challenging holes to keep it interesting. Fair price for a decent course.
Pace great for a weekend
Pace was awesome. Some of the sand traps were too moist and appeared mud.
Greens were okay & fairway okay with winter coming upon us
Greens recovered well from recent aeration
The course was wet, despite not having any rain recently. More bare spots in the fairways than normal, along with several thin, wet lies.
Good value for your money
We played there on a Sunday for only 40$, incl cart, following a recommendation from Golf Now. The course is not difficult but long enough from back tee . Well maintained greens and despite no rain for a long time we could see that the staff have tried to maintain the fairways in good condition.
thos course is great for those who like to walk but neef a flat course to do so.
Greens are in very good condition. Alittle soft but rolling pretty smooth.
One of the only 18s in the area
This is a local the local muni, one of only two public 18 hole courses in the county. It is the cheaper and easier of the two and because of that it is full of hackers and high school players. Don't bother renting a cart unless you have medical needs. Pace of play was running slow, so you could take a nap here and there if you were feeling tired from walking.
We saw three different marshals roaming about but all they will tell you is essentially "it's the weekend, deal with it". One of them really should take up permanent residence on the back nine where the architects felt it was a good idea to run 3 narrow fairways running alongside each other. People would slice there balls into each others' fairways causing a major cluster of wondering golfers left and right. It prevents 3 whole groups of players from taking their tee shots because they have to wait for the three wondering groups in the middle to sort out who's ball is who's and if it is safe to hit. A marshal should be there to help pace of play and mark balls so people can at least find them faster.
Course condition that day was bad, as the greens and fairways were still recovering from aeration (no discount green fee was given however). I have seen this course on better days and it does have some of the better conditions in the area compared to other courses.
If you want to enjoy this course book in the early mornings before the crowds start.
Water Hazards added some challenges.
This was my third experience at Diablo Creek. Too bad about the aeration going on, but it has to be done sometime. I enjoyed the course well enough. The wide fairways certainly helped, and the water hazards added some challenges.
Great day of golf
Enjoyed the course. It's been about 10 months since I've played here, but I noticef the course conditions have improved. The Marshall did a great job of moving folks foward, when traffic backed up on the 4th hole and had folks on the par 3 tee box drive once the previous group had reached the tee...this technique actually helped w/ the Saturday log jam and sent a signal to me that the course was being "actively managed".
Long course which is rare
Great place to play range is a mess and would suggest they stagger tee times a little better but they had marshalls to help
Also since course is on the long side get more players to play from gold too many ego's
Greens were in excellent condition
Easy course for long hitters, not much in the way of fairway bunkers. Trees are filling in along the fairways, but still not mature enough to cause problems on errant shots....however, this is great for speed of play. Greens were great for a course that gets a lot of traffic. Highly recommended.
great coarse good prices
this coarse was very easy to play coarse was in great shape but there needs to be some etiquit for the slow players to let the faster players through other than that yeah i will be back...
Pace of play was great!
We played in just over 4 hours. For a Sunday afternoon that is pretty good. The course is long but with wide fairways and bail out area on most holes.
Good course to practice your game
Nicely maintained, flat course with some water and hazards, good greens
A nice course and worth playing.
A nice course. Pretty well maintained overall. The greens were very nice, fast and smooth. The pace of play was a bit faster than normal, with no waiting around between holes. I would certainly play this course again, since I live not too far away. Probably not worth a really long drive or an overnight stay to play.
course is nice and groomed
If not for the Jr. Tournment holding up play on the front 9 it was a great deal for the money spent.
Great course for the price.
Great afternoon rate, $25 w/cart. Course was in very good condition... greens, fairways, tee boxes, etc. At the time we played, early/mid afternoon, we played the front nine unrushed. Back nine, we were tailed by groups that had shown up for the twilight rate. Back nine was MUCH busier. That said, we played full 18 holes in less than 4 hours.
challenging course
fairways run fast and greens were in excellent shape. A great challenge. Water to test you, tight fairways and undulating greens.
