Good overall value, great conditions, very slow
Pros: great price with golf now special, conditions great, greens perfect and ran well, flag/hole placement challenging, long and wide course, long par 3s, cart girl came around multiple times. I thought even though course was wide open (not really losing balls on OB shots), the rough was thick so it made it fair. Greens very challenging in my opinion with slopes and hole placement so when you got away with a par and 1 putt you felt you really deserved it. Would play again if I could get an early am tee time on weekday and knew I had 5 hours to spend. Stiiiizy down the road so load up prior to playing.
Cons: very slow as mentioned by others with the group in front of us putting like they are on tour but really just older folks who don’t know etiquette. I feel a lot of the golfers don’t know etiquette here and maybe reflective of low prices paid. Marshall came around hole 15 and said he told the group in front of us to speed up. Could have used him about 4 hours prior. Saw someone towards the end with a broken down cart and they said they were waiting 20 minutes and still nobody to help. Also breakfast burrito to go didn’t come wrapped and fell apart after 2 bites.

Somethings never change
As I've reviewed the course in the past all I can say is that the particular pro shop guy on this day was a more courteous individual than those I've encountered in the past. Pace of play on a weekday was as miserable as a weekend outing, 5.75 hours for 18 holes is Unacceptable Period ! Either use empowered Marshall's or stop stacking Tee times on these courses. With an influx of new golfers courses are making money hand over fist and it's been a detriment to the paying atmosphere and time to complete a round . Otherwise I really like the course itself but probably won't book there again .

Unprofessional
Pro shop workers were distressed because their card machine was broken. Told us to come back at the turn pretty rudely to “settle” our tee time payment. Pace of play was terrible, Marshall didn’t come around until the turn. Waste of a round & then they charged me for a full round

Won’t return.
3 hour front nine and 2hr 25 minute back nine! 2 problems, One, overbooked. No excuse for this. Second they don’t care. The only marshal we saw drove by our group and we said the group in front was terribly slow. He yelled back, “it’s Costa Mesa. They are all terrible golfers.” They were a full hole behind and he drove by them without saying anything. Again, no excuse for this, public course or not.

Good layout
Pace of play too slow they let fivesomes out and nobody too regulate the pace of play shouldn’t take 5 hours or more

slow play
The management of tee times is poor.
For instance: I there was a twosome ahead of us but our tee time had 5 people. It took us 4.75 hours to complete the round on a Tuesday. And it's not because there were 5 of us. The people in front were backed up on almost every hole...

Could be so good but....
So I have played this course several times and love the course itself .
The experience sorta takes a cold shower at the starters window when checking in. I'm not sure why the person checking you in is so very miserable every time as if it's an interruption in their life to deal with you. Not friendly is an understatement .
Trying to get a breakfast sandwich at the snack bar can be an adventure as there's only one person that seems to be taking orders and cashiering bussing and serving ! Why I don't know . Pace of play is just miserable last round 5 hours and before that a record 6.5 hrs that I would have walked off of if I wasn't garnering a handicapped round. Enforcing Marshall is NON EXISTENT !!
Lovely course that should not take more than 4-4.5 hours to finish 18 holes .
I cancelled my latest reservation to play there after reading all the pace of play complaints .

Course conditions good, but starter manor so bad.
I made a tee time reserved with golfnow on August 13rd, 2023.
I played this course sometime and I saw some group with 5 sum player, I'd like to make sure and called to proshop and asked them about 5 sum players.
They said, it'll be okay but get approval from director Kiyle when we come to course to play.
I requested 5 sum when I get there to play but he said , Kyle is off today and only 4 sum can play.
I drove an hour to this clubs with other 4 friends
and 1 of my friend couldn't play and back to LA.
I'm very disappointed regarding this course policy.
Most golf course play 4 and some course accept 5.
without any approval.
I don't like this course management.
Just make 4 sum a like other many course
