Good but slow pace of play
Costa Mesa Country Club offers a great golfing experience with its friendly staff, enjoyable parkland-style courses, and scenic surroundings. The staff members were welcoming and provided excellent service throughout our visit, enhancing the overall experience. The parkland courses were well-designed, featuring lush fairways, beautiful trees, and strategically placed bunkers that added both challenge and visual appeal.
However, one aspect that hindered our experience was the frustratingly slow pace of play. The high demand for golf combined with limited course availability resulted in longer waiting times and disrupted the flow of our rounds. Despite this setback, the overall experience at Costa Mesa Country Club remains positive, with its great staff and enjoyable courses.

Extremely Slow Play
We t-offed @ 2 PM Monday afternoon, and the pace of play was excruciatingly slow. There were 2 teams waiting on every t-box. It took us 3 hours to finish the front 9, and almost 3 hours to finish the back 9. We barely finished !!! You guys have to do something about the pace of play !!! I remember before COVID, when you let out 5 walkers. It was a nightmare, so I stopped playing here. Last Monday round reminded me of them times. I don't think I will be playing here again !!!

Excellent twilight course
Played twilight after work for years during daylight saving time. It gets pretty slow on the par 3s. I always get to finish 12 holes which takes me right next to the clubhouse. The greens are in excellent condition for a city course. Fairways are great most of the year, will see some brown patches here and there late summer and early fall. Totally worth the value.

Nice course, extremely slow POP
played this course a couple times. course conditions are good, fairly challenging from the blue tees. Greens were in good condition.
However, it took about 5 hours for our most recent round, 3 of those just for the front 9. At some points, there were as many as 3 groups waiting at one tee box on the front 9. Would have been nice if the course officials could've tried to hurry some of the slower groups along.

Nice course
It was a bit long to walk if you are not familiar with course. I should have ridden the first time. The grass off the fairway was very thick and unforgiving. I will definitely give it another shot.

Honestly, not bad
For $40, it’s one of the better places to play in OC. With 2023 winter rains, course is playing great. All greens in good shape. Maybe I like cause I shot a great round, but either way, CMCC is solid. I prefer Los Lagos but Mesa Linda alright too.

Unbearable slow play
Started at 11:09 am on Friday June 2nd. Finished the 9th hole at 2:00 pm. 3 hours for 9 holes so our 3some just quit and shared our frustration with the pro shop. We were met with apathy and lack of interest. Disappointed as the course is in very good condition. So hats off to the greens crew but we won’t be returning anytime soon given the apathy about pace of play.

Bang for buck
Best bang for buck in the Newport Laguna area. Staff are friendly and always helpful.
The course is in great condition at the moment with all the rain. Greens were quicker than normal but rolled true.

Terrible pace of play..
Decent track. Avoid on weekends unless you want a 6 hr. round. Most likely won’t be coming back. Pace of play is probably the worst in OC.
