Good test

I have played Desert Dunes several times. It is often windy, and it was for our round on 10/27/2020, but not for 10/28/2020. I always enjoy playing this course, even though it usually kicks my butt. I played it better on the 28th than on the 27th, partly due to lack of wind and partly (probably) due to the fact that it was my 3rd day of golf in a row. The course is in pretty good shape right now. It is not a manicured country club course, but it is fair. There are some sketchy spots in the fairways, but overall they are good. The greens were in great shape and the ball rolled true. Even so, they will get your attention. It is not a long course from the white tees, which is where I played from both days. I am 77, and a good drive for me might be between 190 and 220. The fairways are on the generous side, but if you miss them, you can be in deep rough or impenetrable desert brush. I think it is Robert Trent Jones course. If I am right, it is probably junior rather than senior. Either way, with either RTJ there is usually a bailout, and that is the case here. That means if you don't want to try to fly it over a hazard, there is usually a safe place to lay up or play around it. This makes it playable for most players. If you don't like wind, you should check the weather before coming out here, but that is probably true of most of the courses in the area. In fact we played The S at Rancho Mirage three times on this trip, and one day it was just as windy as the windy day at Desert Dunes, and since it is surrounded by trees, there was a great deal of debris flying around and scattered around the fairways and greens. Even on windy days this is not an issue at Desert Dunes, but the wind will definitely affect the games of most golfers. All that said, I love the course and will play it again if I get a chance.

Par4scott

While visiting the course over the last several weekends, despite the periodic mild winds the course was nice for the low cost to play. One thing quite disturbing was I noticed the beverage girl by the name of shawndra took cash from her customer and stash it in her pocket. I told one of the cart barn fellas they need to keep an eye on her. I left the course feeling unsettled about the poor management over the beverage cart staff. Off to another course

Someone doesn't know how to take care of a golf course

I've never seem.a.Fazio designed course more mistreated by incompetent grounds keepers Extensive areas of dirt -.not dormant grass... DIRT! I know it was a hot summer but there's really no excuse for the condition of this golf course. BTW - I stopped playing after 7 holes. Playing conditions were that bad. And painfully slow. 4 grou0s.on a hole slow. Somebody needs to rescue this course.

Hot summer golf

This course is not in good condition. The fairways were hard and bald like hitting the pavement. The sand traps were in bad condition for lack of sand and surprisingly watered but the fairways were dry as the pavements. They should have used all that water for the grass.
The greens were in sad shape (spotty bald) Muni course in Las Vegas was in better shape than this one and cheaper.

Price you it is the quality you get

For 25 dollars, it was worth it. Greens are unkept, lots of water and puddles everywhere. Great layout and long course. Some tough par 4s. During season the greens are well kept.

Desert Dunes

Liked, the course. Just so hard to play when it’s so hot. Beverage girl was very nice and met us when we needed ice and a coke at the best time. Lifesaver

No maintenance here

I like this course ( except when it’s windy) however...there is no money being spent on maintenance. Fairways, tee boxes, bunkers and facilities are in horrible shape but the greens are actually pretty good. The range is a big dirt hole with some grass to hit from. For the price , it is what it is, but it could be so much more.
