play 4-5 times a week
The course was in good shape, tee box and fairways were plush, The greens were pristine and rolling around an 11+. Pace of play was good at 4+ hrs on a sunday. I am definetely coming back to this track.
The course is just plain expensive. The course is nice and all but the pace of play was very slow. We were at the course for about 7 hours because the groups in front of us were very very slow. We were waiting 20-25 minutes at most of the tee boxes.
A Good Track
This is a good course to test your will. If you’re patient enough & trust your shot, you’ll get rewarded. But if you try to get it all at once, you could be easily handed a double Par. Course Management is a premium
Extremely slow pace and pretty thick fairways
I’ll start off with the pace of play because that was a huge part of our day. Right off the rip we waited 10 mins on the first tee box. We thought it was just the group in front of us so we went up to the second tee box our first hole to maybe play in front of them. To our surprise when we reached the second tee box, we realized that there were 4 groups on one hole!!!! One group was on the green putting. The second group was in the middle of the fairway waiting to hit their approach shots. The third group was the group initially in front of us, waiting on the tee box. Last but not least the fourth group was us, waiting behind the tee box. Needless to say it was the slowest round I have ever played. My group didn’t even play the 18th hole because we got so tired of waiting for 5 and 3/4 hours through 17 holes.
Now the course conditions were pretty good. Nice tee boxes, quick greens and solid bunkers! One thing that was not so good was the fairways. They were clean of patches and weeds for the most part but I did lost a ball on hole 6 because of some thick weeds around the straight away bunker. The fairways were also a little thick, almost like a light rough and for some reason there was a mound of dirt on the 9th.
The off course amenities are great on the other hand! We didn’t have time to use the range but we have used it in the past and the mats were pretty solid. We ordered some chicken Caesar wraps at the turn and everyone at the grille was friendly and helpful! The Caesar wrap was pretty good too!
To WRAP up this review, the course is pretty nice and reasonably priced if you’re a San Diego resident but if you do book a tee time here, beware of slow play (7.1/10).
Had fun with my group
Might lose some balls in the rough patches that aren’t grass but other than that it’s super super nice. Thanks Enagic
We had a very nice round.
The pace of play was quite slow on the front 9 (3 hours. At that rate we would never have finished 18 holes before sunset. So the staff advised us to replay the front 9 instead, which was empty so we finished it in under 1 1/2 hours, completing 18 in about 4 hours 15 minutes.
We had a good time. Some challenging holes, and some more straightforward ones.
Good Shape, Fair Course
Very fair course, what you see is what you get. Really good condition overall. A good mix of challenging/easy holes. Greens were in nice shape, rolled true. Had I not gotten a “Hot Deals” rate i’m not sure it’s worth its price tag but it’s definitely come a long way since I played it 20 years ago.
6 Hour Round
The course was way overbooked. Took 4 hours to finish 11 holes and ran out of time and then had to leave for the airport. Didn’t see the Marshall enforcing pace of play until the turn where he bragged about how many reservations they had booked and looked at us like we should have expected a 3 hr front 9. Just unreal when you’re paying almost $100 for the round
How can you get so many things right and still mess up a course so bad.
The course is in amazing shape. However it seems they are just grabbing at a thousand dollars here and there by over booking and stacking tee times on top of each other. We teed off 35 min late and then waited about 10 min each tee box. About a 6 hour round. Just leave more space in between times and don’t just try and sell as many rounds as humanly possible in a day that was ridiculous.
Great Day
A perfect day at Eastlake made all the better by playing Nick, the director of Operations at the course
Poor management.
Slowest pace of play you will ever experience on a golf course.
