Not going back!
Nothing but water for sale in shop, not even snacks. Cart was horrible, every time I stepped on the gas the engine smacked the bottom of the seat. Seats are all ripped. Greens were not cut very short. May as well have putted in the rough. No refreshment cart for on the course. People were super nice but we need some Gatorade or something. Next to Collins Hill, the worst course played yet.
Slow slow start, better after turn
First 2 holes will beat up a beginner causing major backup from the start. The reroute of the course made the pace of play really really slow.. Note there is no driving range and the practice green was slower than greens on course. Overall a good course for location and value.
This is my neighborhood course. I’m fond of it cus I play so frequently but the pace of play is horrendous. Either the tee times are stacked too close or due to the course layout. No range and hole 2 is probably the 2nd hardest in the course. Big par 5, with double water. Rusty with no warm up, causes a real bottle neck everytime. Other than that it’s a fun course with a variety of holes, manageable hazards for most levels. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are usually in pretty good condition. One thing is the ranger is a bit of a pr**k. They don’t come around every to speed up play or prevent bad behavior. Seen some drunkards doing donuts in the middle of the fairway. He only ever comes to yell at you for carts due, after you waited 30 mins plus for yours with 2Hrs of sun left. Pretty impossible to finish a round starting after 3pm.
Great Value, Great Round
Would recommend this course to anyone. It's a muni course, so don't come expecting country club amenities, but the golf course is great for the value. No cart person, so bring plenty of water/ Gatorade/ whatever. Already booked my next tee time.
Great course for a newbie
The staff was friendly and helpful. They made my first experience great! Great course, fast pace on the weekend. I recommend that you go on a week day if you are a newbie like me.
Chastain needs help
Carts are pitiful. Torn seats and dirty. Fairways need resisting. Greens were cut too high and run slow and bumpy. New cart paths and bunkers were a nice surprise!
Scruffy but fun
Really enjoyed our round. Biggest disappointment was the pro shop. Completely empty, no food or drinks being sold and no merch. Basically an empty room with old carpet and a check in desk. Staff was friendly and helpful, but they do have an issue with teenagers from the surrounding neighborhoods harassing players and jumping onto the back of carts, swimming in water hazards. Not sure what the fix is considering there was an employee chasing them off already, but it’s a safety hazard.
Very… slow pace of play
It would be nice if they had rangers to keep the slow golfers moving. You should not have to play a 3 hour front 9 and other hour and 10 mins to play holes 10 - 13 then I quit, could not take anymore of the slow play.
It’s a simple fix just keep the pace of play moving, so all golfers can enjoy their round of golf.
Great city course
New cart paths, fantastic!
Carts are beat up, not a single cart without torn up seats
Great sand bunkers with new sand, excellent!
Greens very playable, somewhat bumpy but consistent, good grass coverage on smaller sized greens.
Fairways good grass coverage but play preferred lies and you're good.
Excellent layout, very challenging holes. Some very tight fairways for driving.
Pace of play for a Thursday 1230 pm tee time was 3.5 hours, excellent!
Very happy with this experience compared to my last time playing here about a year ago. Give it a shot for $30
The quintessential city course, and the definition of a C+
No cart girls on the weekend, remedial course care, no snacks/food in the clubhouse, slow pace of play, shortage of golf carts, and abhorrent tee box conditions. City courses have a mediocre reputation, this course keeps that reputation alive. I paid $45~ through GolfNow, this course… At its best, is not worth more than $35/OTD for 18 holes.
