Fun course, good for us average Players. Cart paths need repairs.
Fast greens…
The course was fun. The greens were extremely fast and seems mostly dead grass and sand. The staff was apathetic at best. The parking situation is bad and not clear directions where to park. The starter was really nice. I would probably not play there again.
Fast greens
Greens were the fastest I’ve played on this year. With the undulatiion don’t miss the speed or you’ll be 8’ past. Overall a good test.
Chastain review
Not a bad municipal course located in the Buckead section of Atlanta. Ok distance, the greens kept fairly decent but you get what you pay for.

Course is great as always. Good layout. Greens were fast and excellent. Pace of play was terrible and put a damper on the round. A marshal needs to actively keep pace of play moving.
Unfair greens
The course was in good shape for this time of year. However, the greens were so fast that if you had a downhill putt and missed, your next putt would be significantly longer. Some greens were impossible. Uphill putts to some pin placements rolled back to you. I blame the difficulty of the greens for the 4 3/4 hour round on a Wednesday afternoon.
Chastain Golf Course
Chastain is a good value golf course with surprisingly tough greens, fairly open spaces and few amenities.
Not as great as it used to be.
This course used to be in nicer condition - even last year (2020) it was nicer. The greens must have gotten a disease as they were not in good shape. More importantly, the pace of play was horrific. No marshal pushing people along. I noticed a group starting 30 minutes before us had someone show up late and they allowed the group to wait till they showed to get started - not cool. If someone is late, they either don't play or they start without people. This held us up to start almost 20 minutes late and from there everyone was squeezed. My group and the group behind me kept having to wait together which is not how pace of play should be handled.
