Chastain Park Golf Course

This course is always crowded but the. Spacing was especially poor when i played even though it wasn’t crowded. The assignment of an intermediate player like me with less distance players made the round arduous.

Horrible pace of play on a Wednesday morning. There was a truck on 2 and 3 driving around like he was at monster jam, spraying fertilizer and literally spraying us in the cart and another group. Never will I play again at this goat farm.

Played here 15 years ago. The current layout is better and the greens are way better. They are in fact rolling flawlessly now.

I’ve played Chastain for many years and I have to say this is the poorest conditions I’ve seen. The fairways were burnt, the rough was uneven and bald in spots and the greens were recently aerated. Weeds were rampant. The conditions have degraded significantly in the last 3 months. Just really sloppy unprofessional course maintenance.

This is the type of course that you never know if it is going to be busy or not. Yesterday it was somewhat busy but tolerable. I played lousy but the heat got me. Playing from the whites is manageable for old geezers like me. I shot a 94 and I consider myself an intermediate golfer.

When the hot deals are consistently $22 over the summer, you get what you pay for. Pace of play is slow, but there’s a sign to tell you that it’s 4.5 hours for 18. And that’s exactly how long it took for noon Sunday tee time. If you just want to play 18 holes on a fair course, this is the place. Parking sucks, no range, hardly a putting green, standard carts, no bev cart, holes are a bit crammed together, and a fair number of holes line sidewalks and streets. BUT, the fairway was good, the greens were good (aerated 3 weeks ago, but mostly recovered), the tee boxes could use some work, but I’ve played at much worse courses. If you just wanna pay for 18 holes on decent conditions, this is the cheapest, most fair option.
