Very slow, course needs work & staff is very unfriendly
Pace of play is about 6 1/2 hours. Tons of waiting and a bad lay-out make this course a disastrous place to play. DO NOT PLAY HERE unless you like waiting around in the hot sun. Tons of trees on this course but none by any tee boxes to give you some shade while you wait 15 minutes to tee off ON EVERY HOLE. Couldn't even play through because the course was so stacked up. was 15 min early for my tee time but still had to wait for 4 other groups to tee off ahead of me and didn't tee off until 40 minutes after my tee time. This added to waiting around all day meant I got 9 holes in before the lightning and rain hit. I then went to ask for a rain check for the back nine and was told if I play at least 9 holes I don't get a rain check. I did not book a twilight tee time so a 9 hole rain check should have been issued. This course is a joke and so is the staff. Who is just some young smart mouthed kid. Due to their location they are always this busy too. It amazes me that people will pay $50 to play here when there are so many other nicer and better managed places to play around Atlanta. I wouldn't even go back and play here if they offered me a free round. BE WARNED...NEVER PLAY HERE....YOU WILL REGRET IT!
decent. wont be returning
Course conditions were ok. not 50 bucks worth. more like a 25 dollar course. Staff is a 15 year old boy who talks on the phone and is rude. Had a tee time and 2 4some groups were on tee one when I was supposed to tee off. will not be returning unless its 20 bucks.
It was a super busy friday afternoon and they didnt regulate the box very well congesting the course. 1 hour for 3 holes.

Bad layout. Always jam packed. Nice beer cart girls.
Decent drives on #2, #5, #7, #9, #10, #15, #17 and #18 can penalize you, not because this is a true test of golf, but because the layout is ridiculous, with fairways that both pinch and slope significantly into trouble. Layout is also responsible for the never ending bottleneck traffic starting at hole #5. Hit over water twice on #5, then a par 3, then layup before water on #7, then a par 3 over water, then layup in front of water on # 9 or try to clear it and giant tree protecting it. 5 straight holes that will backup the fastest foursomes. Close your eyes on #10, as identical down the middle drives can bounce left down an unplayable hill or right into the street.
The cart girls are approachable and pleasant, and rounds before 6:30am turn out peaceful for some reason.
I could add another half star or star if they'd reduce their rates, because I can play really good courses for just a few bucks more. But due to this muni's extremely convenient location, every tee time slot gets filled, so why would they?
Great course for the price...
No complaints really. Played 9 holes. Fairways were in great shape for the most part - there were some holes where the grass had faded and you were hitting on dirt - but those were few and far between.
Great course to walk - especially if you are playing early - if you don't mind a few hilly climbs.
A challenging course
I wanted to play a course close to where i was staying in Atlanta. This course was close and had great reviews. It was an nice change from the courses i play in Florida. It had some nice elevation changes and water hazards. The pace of play was pretty quick and i would recommend playing the course if your in Atlanta.
Never Again
Took 4 hours to play 12 holes and that is not including the hour we had to wait before teeing off. They over booked and just kept coming up with excuse after excuse. Did not finish!
North Fulton
If your a local, you've probably played this course. I grew up hearing from my grandfather about pro-ams that were once held on this course the week before the Masters. According to him, some famous folks once walked these grounds. It isn't Augusta but, its a fun little course to practice on. Get out early though because the lower greens fees and average conditions bring out the duffers. Overall conditions on the 27th were good. Greens, fairways, rough were all in good shape save a few spots with standing water from sprinklers. You won't find anything too plush here but, you might find yourself a good time.
Nice views, nice Fairways, Fast Greens
A very nice course, open in some spots and narrow in others. It will help elevate your game
Disappointing
Course conditions are fair, but the pace of play is beyond frustrating. They consistently over crowd and fail to manage the pace. I've tried North Fulton twice and it was so slow I had to abandon both rounds by hole 12 because I didn't have 6+ hours to play 18. I won't be giving this course a third chance.
Good course layout that is maintained just enough for public play.
I grew up playing this course but only come back occasionally now. Nothing has changed in 50 years except to make this course play easier by shortening the length. A great layout,(especially the back 9), is compromised by heavy volume of play & marginal course maintenance. Could be a jewel if the city of Atlanta didn't own it.
Great condition. Fast greens. Uncrowded.
My review summary says it all. But it was a great value for the Hot Deal I got on GolfNow.
Terrible golfing experience
Staff would litterally talk trash to me, because I didn't want to tee off 15 minuets early, then would harass everyone that didn't purchase their frequent players card into playing faster or slower so that "members" would stop complaining, when the course was simply slammed. It was a terrible golfing experience and unless I get a "hot deal" for a dollar a hole I will probably never golf there again.
Golf course or city park?
My friend and I went to play NFGC for the first time on Sunday 2/24/13. In all fairness it had rained heavily the two previous days, however the course was in horrible shape. Again it is winter and I understand the grass isn't going to be green but on several fairways there was no grass at all. The course is surrounded by a walking trail, hundreds of people with dogs and kids walking within 20 yards of you on several holes was just odd to me. I like the serenity of a normal golf course, did not enjoy being in the smack middle of the city. $50 was a completely outrageous price, I wouldn't want to pay $20 to play again, which I never will. Lastly the pace of play was unbelievable, took us 3 & 1/2 hours to play 9 holes!!! After the turn my buddy and I gave up and took it to the house. Only positive thing was the staff was friendly but I'll go to the bar and drink a ten dollar pitcher if I want to have a friendly chat
The greens where in great shape
9/1/2012 was a excellent morning for golf, I had some friends in town for opening day of college in Atlanta and NF had some good rates on golfnow. Thanks for easy bookings.
Ok course but very crowded
This was the first course I'd ever played. Extremely crowded on a summer day. Took us a good 5 hours, and we resorted to playing best ball on the back nine because the idiots behind us kept hitting into us. Lots of people on the course. Probably would have had a better time had we gone during the week when there weren't as many people. Greens were average. Nothing to write home about but certainly not a bad course either.
Terrible staff, horribly slow.
I'm a seasoned golfer with single digit handicap. I had a 1:00 tee time. We were informed the tee times were delayed when we arrived. No surprise - they are almost always behind. At 1:30 we teed off and after 13 holes and 4h15m later we had to quit due to sunset. We asked for a 9 hole raincheck and were refused. It would have been a 6 hour round if we finished. I asked why and they simple said it was a busy day, sorry. All courses are busy on holidays, but somehow Chastain is one of the few with 5hr + rounds. The staff is simply rude - all of them. A good public course, but staff and management of the course is lackluster as always. I live in Chastain, so I play several times a year and have for 20+ years. The greens are so fast (I love quick greens) since they were cut too short before going dormant. Many balls rolled 20 feet off the green after a short 5 foot putt.. The course needs a better greenskeeper, management, and rangers.
Always a good time.
This course has been around for awhile. has had its' ups and downs. Presently in very good shape. Tees need some attention.
Great in town location.
Dont be fooled by the low USGA rating, the inclines make some difficult carries and lies. Greens are in great shape for how much play this course gets. Can't beat the price.
