Not on the weekend again
First time I ever turned around and quit. After reaching the 12 hole in five hours decided to go home. Course was packed and foursomes were in place but never experienced such slow play. All the water coolers were empty. There was no ice to be had at the clubhouse. I encourage anyone playing to bring their own cooler and drinks. No beer sold. Tee boxes are worn out. Cart paths are new. Yay. Greens are in excellent shape. No driving range. Maybe set up some nets to hit into. Two putting greens. Yay. A weekday round might be more enjoyable than the weekend. I will definitely not play here on the weekend again.
SLOWW pace of play
A TON of walkers, and on top of that people will walk on the course without a tee-time.
I stepped on the tee box for my 6:45pm tee-time and was joined by a random guy. I then asked him, "So, you're 6:45 too?"
and he replied "Oh, I dunno, don't think she gave me a tee-time". It made no sense to me. I then told him I'd prefer to play by myself and hit my shot.
I look over my shoulder on the green and there he is, it had been almost like 5 minutes and he was on my butt. It was so ridiculous.
This is not the first time a random has messed up my tee-time. Another time I asked a teenager the same question about the tee-time, and he just kinda shruged.
The course itself isn't bad to play really for the money but it's situated in a rich neighborhood and the neighborhood people seem like they just step on the course without booking a tee-time.
I had to pass two groups of walking teenagers in front of me my last round to actually play at a decent pace. After that, I had a great time at Chastain.
Chastain Park Golf
Nice layout, plenty of challenging holes. Very narrow fairways. Have to hit it straight. Overall good experience, Rangers Very present to keep you moving .
A Buckhead bargain
Chastain Golf club is not East Lake , but for intown golf, it's a treasure. Parking sux most afternoons, the traffic is bad; but the Marshall was helpful, the carts new and clean and greens were 85%. Tee boxes are a disaster, neighborhood teens jumping in and slowing play . Return of the carts by 830 caused stress. I will be back to walk the course; twilight cart usage too stressful.
ZT
It’s great if you just want to play and work on your game. The layout is manageable and not too hard or easy.
Great day of golf
Great weather, good course and great company, what else can you ask for.
Worth every penny
This is an amazing course for the money and for a slight challenge with tight fairways and subtly tricky greens. For the price you can’t beat it, and any public course with a starter is the icing on the cake!
Great day on a nice course
Great weather, great flight and a nice course in good condition for a good price. Nothing more to say.
Could be great, terrible maintenance practices
This course is is fun layout with some quirky holes. It isn’t overly long from the tips and has some character and good location in relation to downtown Atlanta. It is abundantly clear that the course is an after thought to profit. The club house does not have a liquor license and does not offer beer. There was not a cart girl on duty for any type of refreshments that rode the course, and the selection of items in the shop for refreshments were as diverse as a little league after game snack. Half of the tee boxes were sand and tees are not moved on a per day/traffic basis and that is evident by the holes and lack of grass to be found. The greens rolled very inconsistent and we’re not mowed for the first 2 holes. At hole 3 we had to wait 5 minutes for the greens mower to mow said green, and had to wait almost 10 minutes on the next hole for the same thing. @9:45am, you’re expecting the greens to be already done. That brings me to the next point about greens. They were in okay shape for this time of year, but the number of improperly repaired cups and the lack of a recent sanding makes half of your putts require a crash course in brail to read them. For $50 there are many other options within a reasonable distance that you’re money would be better spent at.
Slowest Course in Atlanta
As stated, this is the slowest course in Atlanta. Overbooked and lots of walkers so be ready for a near 6 hour round every time you want to play here. Course is neat but most of your time is spent watching other golfers while you wait to play.
Mu home course
It’s perfect but could use a little maintenance around t-boxes and some bald spot in a few holes.
How about installing a small box around t-boxes for people to dispose broken tees. Imean by thematkers on each hole.
If food, snacks, beer were sold there would be plenty to use in theses maintenance issues
