What happened?
Haven’t played this course in a couple of years. I recall hearing that the previous management was out and the City would assume the course. Well it shows. All beds were overgrown with weeds. Tee boxes were a mess. Greens horrible and fairways washed out and eroded. Not to mention multiple deep holes left unmarked for irrigation repairs. Oh and no food/drinks are sold anymore and no cart girl.
Such a shame that a great local course has fallen into such disrepair.
Chastain Golf Course
The course, while a very nice layout, is poorly maintained. And there are no food services, at all, even though the facilities are there and it is obvious they were there at one time. Not even a simple hot dog at the turn and no cart service, on the course, either.
I do not think I will be back.
Great course layout, plenty to offer
This course pace of play is about 4hrs with a full group. Plenty of driver holes, plenty of opportunity to use all your clubs. Great views, would recommend
Fun times at Chastain Park
Friendly people working and courteous fellow players. Look, if a group of older gentlemen waive you through on the second hole, because they can tell your 18 year old kid is a player, then hats off to the course and the people that play there.
The course was fine for a public muni and the greens rolled pretty good. We played from the blues, which made the back 9 a challenge. Overall, worth the $$ if you play on a Sunday am.
Great affordable coarse
Great no frills corse but would appreciate a bit later cart return.
Needs some TLC
Chastain Park has lovely terrain with lots of hills.
Some holes are narrow and challenging. Water comes into play several times.
Course conditions are a little unkempt. There are numerous bare ground areas and areas with little-no grass. The course looks a little raggedy.
There are practically no amenities and the golf shop lacked any food or drink.
Pace of play was about 4:30 for 18 holes. Tees could be signed more clearly at transition points.
Decent value. I’ll use it somewhat, due to its convenience.
Big drawback is no warm up area. You go out cold.
Could be much better
This course has a great location and green fees are very reasonable. However simple basic maintenance around the tee boxes could improve the experience greatly. How about some signs to pick up broken tees (may be put a little tee-disposal wood box and/or signage to clean up after your play?
Slow
Pace of play was awful, Rangers did not seem to care to enforce it
We love Chastain
Such a great course with great staff. We will be back
This course has really fallen off
I used to come to Chastain regularly in 2020-2021, and it was awesome - favorite course in Atlanta, with great rates and really nice conditions. I've since moved out of Atlanta and came back to play for the first time in a few years this weekend, and I was shocked to see how much worse the course conditions have become. Most tee boxes have no grass at all. Fairways are totally carved up by rain gullies and lack of grass - #13 is almost unplayable. The greens are a nice upside - firm but roll true. I'm not sure if the course has come under new management over the last 2 years, but I don't plan to be back.
Mediocre course
Fairway grass not yet growing. Many bare spots. Greens ok but quite bumpy and irregular. Balls don’t hold a line. Tricky course. Must know where to hit the ball, and middle of the fairway not always best place. 18 is long par 4. Second layup iron middle of fairway will roll off left into the creek. Stupid contour. Stuff like this is frequent. Need to know this course well to score.
