If you ever get paired with a guy named Rim
Make sure he doesn’t “gimmie” your birdie putt.
Don’t you ever touch my ball and bring it to me as I’m happily driving up to the green with my putter in hand ready to take pride in tapping in my ball for a bird.
Don’t ever rob someone of that!
The course was good otherwise. Just got paired with a Richard- head who didn’t have any golf etiquette.
Same Old Encino.
You know what you’re getting yourself into when you play at Los Angeles city Public course. So there were no surprises really. Actually the pace of play was faster than normal less than four hours which was great. Tee boxes and fairways were the usual not great. The greens were really bad even for an LA city public course. Super furry, Super bumpy, super slow and super inconsistent. I shot a great score so it was all worth it.
Pretty Nice
Pretty cool facility overall, a lot of space to work on chipping, putting, and hang out before your tee time. Course was in above average condition, especially for a municipal course. All in all a good experience, looking forward to coming back.
Bunkers bad, greens awful
Greens not cut at all. It’s even over 5 weeks since the punch, they should be in good shape like at other courses but no, here, they are spongy and bumpy, still showing where the holes were punched and those are now like obstacles sending the ball wherever, and coupled with the length of the thick grass on the greens it’s seriously sad.
And bunkers!!!! Why do they not take care of them? You would think it’s as simple as running the machine through them once a day in the morning. But nope, most of them have grass growing in them, and gopher holes too, and then nobody takes them.
How they can take money from people this way, it’s disgusting.
And there seemed to be a really slow group of old guys who just couldn’t get going fast enough that held up the entire afternoon of players, it’s a total disgrace, they’re on the wrong course to be walking, even with their battery-powered hand carts.
Just sad.
Better than expected
Fairways were surprisingly softer than expected. Greens rolled out more than expected also. Pace of play was 4 hours which was great..I’ll be back!
Maintenance gone downhill
Bunkers are not maintained at all. None. They are not machine raked, and the players don’t care either so there are deep footprints everywhere. Pretty sad sight to see. The greens are bad too, it’s always either the front or back that’s been cut depending on the day. Makes no sense. They’ve been taking the same amount of money after they’ve raised the rates so the place should be in much better conditions but it’s not. There’s some more grass now on the fairways and that’s fine, but it’s only because we’ve had a prolonged cool weather.
Just wish the maintenance would be more consistent. Take care of your own place
Good solid municipal course
This is a fair test of golf. Just enough trouble to punish really errant shots but most holes are open enough that some degree of inaccuracy still leaves a chance for decent recovery. Likewise most holes are reachable in regulation for the golfer with average length. Visually it's a nice course by municipal standards, and its condition is generally good especially the greens. It's a pleasant course to play.
Pace of Play!
Weekday golf teeing off at 1:30pm… think it would be a decently well paced round? Wrong, they sent out a tournament of high school kids in groupings of 5 peppered all throughout the late morning without informing anyone else teeing off aftwrwards, backing up every tee time until 2:30. There was no marshal or anyone keeping pace of play in check. We finished the front nine in just under 4 hours which is absurd. When my group finally decided to give up at the twelfth hole, we went to the proshop to see if we could have a rain check, not a refund mind you, just play another day. They said “no rain checks or refunds after you tee off”, no wiggle room, no understanding, just no.
Course was in decent shape but the greens were not!!
